Does the Luck contract relate to KC?

Does the Andrew Luck contract have anything to do with KC after this season? Its been reported that Luck wants 25M per season. I think the two highest right now are Flacco and Rodgers at 22M per season. If KC wins the division and one playoff game will he ask for 22M per season? Thoughts? Both guys are the same age and we all know teams pay on potential.

Then that will put him top 5 in the league. I think KC will have success this year. So maybe the 20M he is asking for in along term deal is a bargain.

Seems obvious to me that any contract Luck gets will have some kind of an impact on a Cousins contract.

It's all about what the latest contract is for setting the QB market these days.

Look at Osweilers deal, his production to this point certainly wasn't the reason for what he got, it was all about what the QB market will bear and the supply of QB options out there.

Luck's deal will have some impact but the bigger impact will be Kirk's year, the fact that QB contracts go up substantially every year and the understanding that no GM in the world would trade Andrew Luck for Kirk Cousins.

Nope, Why do it based on hope? Unless the rules change and Indy is allowed to sign him for Washington based on their assessment, Luck's contract has no bearing on KC's

Not so sure, the kid could step up this season and prove himself worthy of an long term deal. Right now all we actually do have are questions. Much better to pay 19+ million now than risk 40+ million now.

I call bullshit. Had a certain other QB managed to hold onto the starting job, and had a season like Cousins..... I get the feeling there would be calls to make him the highest paid QB in the NFL no questions asked.

I would feel better with a deal in place but I'll let the grown ups decide how to get that done. Either way no way Cousins commands Luck money but it may be close.

If KC gets 22 and Luck get 25 I will call that close. If KC repeats his 2015 season he gets 22.

Yeah I agree....IF...IF...that other guy had any relevance to the current situation. Way past time to let that go and concentrate on who's here. At the moment that is KC, and he certainly has not done enough to garner the long term deal that he and his agent are asking for. The team offered them a contract in the 12-15M range, which was fair from a team standpoint, yet insulting in as much as Kirk his agent and the current market were concerned.

I honestly love the disconnect that exists here when this topic comes up. On the one hand many want to make a connection between Kirk's contract and those being signed by others around the league. These same people then miss the actual connection between what's happening here and elsewhere. There just isn't any way Washington and it's front office can make it any clearer how they see Kirk in relation to other QB's, and that comparison is with Brock Osweiler and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Agree or not this is the comparison, all middle of the pack QB's, all offered less than the market and their reps commanded and none signed to long term deals (Osweiler with Denver).

Because on the off chance that he does perform well, and we are in the same situation next year, we effectively end up STILL committing even more money to him. Why rent a guy for one year at $20 million guaranteed, when you can Lease the same guy for 3-5 years and spread that same guarantee over a minimum of the first three years?
