Beltre (hamstring) is not in the Rangers' lineup Thursday against Houston, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Beltre tweaked his left hamstring late in Wednesday night's game, and the Rangers will give him the day off as he continues to deal with lingering tightness. At this point, it's unclear whether Beltre will miss additional time, but Texas will go with Jurickson Profar at third base for the time being. Profar will lead off Thursday against Houston's Collin McHugh.

Stubbs remains at least a week away from embarking on a rehab assignment, but since receiving the shot he's returned to all baseball activities. Of course, a cortisone shot is far from a permanent solution, but it could help to accelerate Stubbs' return to the Rangers.

Jackson was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Catcher Robinson Chirinos was activated from the disabled list Thursday, so Jackson will head to Triple-A to free up a spot on the 25-man roster. The right-hander has made five appearances for theRangers on the season, allowing 11 hits and six earned runs over 7.2 innings. He's fared better at Round Rock, where he holds a 3.68 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Plays catch with no issues

Darvish (shoulder) played catch Thursday and reported no issues, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Darvish exited his start Wednesday with tightness in his throwing shoulder, but he said after the game that he expects to make his next scheduled start. The right-hander is slated to throw his normal bullpen session Friday, and if that goes well he could be officially cleared to start Monday.

Chirinos (forearm) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, but is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros, Stefan Stevenson reports.

Chirinos was expected to rejoin the team today, but wasn't originally expected to be activated until theRangers' weekend series with the Mariners. In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned right-hander Luke Jackson to make room for Chirinos on the 25-man roster. The catcher has been on the disabled list ever since he fractured his forearm in early April. Bryan Holladay will start at catcher on Thursday, and bat ninth.

This move was made in order to make room for Robinson Chirinos on the 40-man roster after being activated from the disabled list Thursday. Klein was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday after giving up five earned runs during 2.1 innings of work over his past three appearances. The 27-year-old is useful as organizational depth, but has struggled during his time in the majors.

Choo (hamstring) is expected to play back-to-back games in the outfield this weekend as a final step in his rehab assignment, Ryan Posner of MLB.com reports.
