Rangers' Robinson Chirinos: Activated to 25-man roster on Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
Chirinos (forearm) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, but is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros, Stefan Stevenson reports.

Chirinos was expected to rejoin the team today, but wasn't originally expected to be activated until theRangers' weekend series with the Mariners. In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned right-hander Luke Jackson to make room for Chirinos on the 25-man roster. The catcher has been on the disabled list ever since he fractured his forearm in early April. Bryan Holladay will start at catcher on Thursday, and bat ninth.

That leaves us with Tolley, Willie, Barnette, Dyson, Diekman, Bush, and Ramos.

Good news here

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Plays catch with no issues

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Darvish (shoulder) played catch Thursday and reported no issues, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Darvish exited his start Wednesday with tightness in his throwing shoulder, but he said after the game that he expects to make his next scheduled start. The right-hander is slated to throw his normal bullpen session Friday, and if that goes well he could be officially cleared to start Monday.

Hopefully there's nothing wrong with him. I wouldn't mind seeing him miss the next start for precautionary reasons because it's against the A's for some reason he can't beat them.

Rangers' Phil Klein: Has been designated for assignment

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
Klein was designated for assignment Thursday.

This move was made in order to make room for Robinson Chirinos on the 40-man roster after being activated from the disabled list Thursday. Klein was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday after giving up five earned runs during 2.1 innings of work over his past three appearances. The 27-year-old is useful as organizational depth, but has struggled during his time in the majors.
Finally getting healthy enough to where we can take out the trash. Wilhelmsen needs to go next, and Claudio shouldn't get too comfortable either.

Choo (hamstring) is expected to play back-to-back games in the outfield this weekend as a final step in his rehab assignment, Ryan Posner of MLB.com reports.

Choo is expected to come off the DL on Monday barring any setbacks over the weekend.

I heard Monday.

Dang. Then I hope Beltre is fine. Need all the offense we can muster for this series in Seattle.

Hopefully Fielder and Mitch can keep doing anything at all, cause they will be in the lineup regardless

If they don't get a single hit in the Seattle series, they should walk to Oakland..... Or Round Rock.

So, assuming that we're still pennant contenders at the trade deadline, the team is relatively healthy across the board, and JD only makes one trade, what would you have him acquire:

A) TORP (Sale, Gray?) to put with Hamels, Darvish, and Lewis for the playoffs
B) Proven closer (Andrew Miller?) to allow Dyson to slide back into his 8th inning role
C) Reliable depth reliever (Doolittle, D Phelps, F Abad?) for 6th-7th inning or situational work
D) Upgraded starting bat (Lucroy?)
E) Bench bat (J Lowrie, B Butler?)

C) for me. Teams that go deep into October have to have a stout bullpen.

I guess it really doesn't matter how many positions Profar is asked to play. He will still hit.
