If that were our draft I would be happy. I really like Spriggs as a LT in our system. I do worry about his functional strength and he doesn't seem to have 'heavy' hands (watch his film, he gets his mitts on a guy but they always slide off... can be a problem) and also think he is specific to LT, which limits his value to me a tad... (just a tad). He is much more an athlete right now than a football player, but he has the potential to be a very very good left tackle in our scheme, and having that key position with that 5th year option is a huge plus.

I think Dak to us round 2 is hugely possible as well. Denver likes him and he is a good fit developmentally for us.

Overall.. i would take it BUT I would be nervous for round 3... because we need to add some dline players sooner than later haha

My approach right now is

Round 1: Best DL/OL available
Round 2: Your developmental QB
Round 3 and comp pick: One of them BPA and the other either DL/OL (Depending on what you took round 1)

If a guy falls though or there is value to take a corner or an edge rusher somewhere, then this changes of course, but this is how i would view the first 3 rounds right now.
That makes the most sense. I like your rd 2 " developmental QB" . Leaving the door open for "Johns" choice. :)

Ya that really helps me confirm what I think of Dak in the NFL. Round 4 or later yes anything earlier no. Can't read defenses yet. Has never played in a pro style offense under center and then make reads and QB's that were with Dan Mullen have not faired well in the NFL. Alex Smith is the only one and he still doesn't make proper reads dumping the ball off to RB's to quickly. That's why Rodgers who was in the same draft is great and Smith isn't. I'll agree Dak will be better then Tebow but that isn't saying much. At least no RG3. Just my opinion and until I see a QB under Dan Mullen or Urban Meyer do anything in the NFL it won't change. That goes for RB's from the Badgers as well.:becky:

Personally I hope Elway doesn`t take a qb until 4th or later. I just don`t think he see`s much of a diff between #1 to # 6. Guess we`ll see soon enough. :)

I'm kind of with you on this. I don't think this is the year to use a pick at the position, unless it's a 6th or 7th. They may bring in another vet FA and a late round pick or UDFA as a camp arm but I think moving forward with Sanchez or Kap is the right move for now. There are other areas that can make this a better team and an early pick on a position that isn't going to contribute within the next 1-2 years seems a waste in my estimation.

That's right you can! I suppose any mention of religion or faith based values is increasingly out of touch with mainstream culture these days, and far from PC, but on Easter Sunday to hell with the Devil (Stryper reference if anyone remembers the 80s hair metal era) and to hell with being PC!

What I've seen so far and pretty sure I posted somewhere else is maybe Kessler in 4th and throw in Vernon Adams with one of your 7th rd picks. Go DL/Ol/RB/S/LB with first 3 picks. :)

The one weakness with Oz was him being Marginal at Running type stuff ...Roll Outs ...

Wentz would be out of this world good in Kubaik System ..

If true he will be there in the top ten picks .. I hope we go all out .

I still shake my head - sadly - we have over 300 million people in this country and yet we can only produce about 5 top QBs at any given time.

It's time we get this rolling ..

Every few days, let's post a draft scenario - the first two picks - and then we can discuss the good, bad and or the ugly about it ..

First up:

Round One Pick 31 - Jason Spriggs OT

Round Two Pick 63 - Dak Prescott QB

What is you reaction ?

I will round this out for you... if i were the gm and these were my first two picks I would go...

3. Sean Davis, S/CB, Maryland
3c. Willie Henry, DE/DT, Michigan
4c. Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU
5. Rees Odhiambo, OG, Boise St

Since probably 85% of colleges run a spread offense that you could legitimately link it to Mullen/Meyer, you certainly have a small pool of QBs to ever select from...

Agreed and besides Cam Newton and Alex Smith who has really done anything in the NFL? I think Cam Newton would struggle in Kubiak's system but the Panthers make the offense in which best suits Cam which is smart. Cam still struggles passing the ball at times. Has had games where he throws around 50% completion. His running ability is the big reason why he won the MVP. Alex Smith still doesn't make all his reads and drops the ball off to his backs to often. QB's that were coached by Meyer or and Mullen have not faired well in the NFL. That is a true statement. That's why I think the Broncos should wait on getting a QB in the draft.

This is part of the reason I will keep pounding the table for Cook. He is the one guy that I think could come in day 1 and do a lot of good things for this team coming from a pro style offense and having 3 years of training in it.

We should look more at who went nutso good running this system and Gary Kubiak as there OC or QB coach ''

IMO the QB that ran it best was Steve Young other than Elway .. So maybe Dak would work .. I am not sure never watch him all that much ..

I agree with Cook. He seems like the game manager type and would work well in Kubes system. I also think he has a good football iq for the position. He actually could give Sanchez a run for his money if it comes down to those two. 1 month away from the draft Gents. This is certainly going to be a very interesting Bronco draft this year.:)

Cook to me has the highest floor of any of the top-5 QB's in this draft. He also though doesn't have quite as high a ceiling though. Cook reminds me honestly a lot of Alex Smith. Some running ability or at least more than people ever think there is, good arm not great, can make all the throws. He is a little bit different in he is willing to take more risks than Smith but I think Smith is about the Ceiling for Cook.

Lynch on the other hand reminds me of Big Ben. Strong arm, can move around a lot, can take some hits, and can make some throws with guys hanging on him because he just has that good of an arm. I'm just glad I am not Elway having to make this decision. Lots of risk whatever he decides to do. The more we get closer to the draft though the more I do think QB is the way we go.
