Seven takeaways from Gary Kubiak's Q&A at the NFL Annual Meeting
Seven takeaways from Gary Kubiak's Q&A at the NFL Annual Meeting
Kubiak pointing out that Clady is still a part of the Bronco's plans for now - was interesting news. If Clady returns - I'd say Okung moves to RT and Stephenson to swing tackle.
Also the Kubiak comment about getting a FB in the draft was significant.
I would say the Clady news was more about just trying to drive up the cost to get him in a trade or that somebody should want him in a trade. Right now we have only about $2 million in actual cap space. We will need around $5 million in cap space for the draft class so I have a hard time seeing the Broncos not at some point getting rid of Clady. Don't want to just tell teams that you are going to cut him as they will just wait for that to happen rather than trade something of value.
"Right now we have a lot of versatility. That's a good thing. Getting Stephenson, getting [Russell] Okung -- [and] Ryan [Clady] is still ours," Kubiak said. "Ryan is on our football team. Nobody mentions that. That's still a possibility."
If you can figure that- what are they actually hiding?
This Kubiak quote - just seemed more significant than his coaches speak usually takes him.
A decision on Clady will have to be made before the first OTA because they can't let Ryan come to OTAs and risk injury and be on the hook for his entire salary for 2016.
