I think the most important fact you've missed in that second meeting was that although Cleveland held them to under 90 points they still weren't able to close the deal & win.
I haven't missed it. You're right... ultimately what matters is winning the game. The Warriors got the job done and the Cavs failed.

But that wasn't the point. You said every time the Cavs and Warriors have met this year the Warriors won convincingly.

In reality... they won very convincingly once and won a hard-fought close game the other time.

You're right...because HOW they win is most important.

Gotta call BS on that. The game in Cleveland was an absolute slaughter. The game in GS was a very close, competitive game.

In fact that was the only other game the Warriors were held under 90 points all season long.
its all ridiculous anyway...

the last game the Cavs and Warriors played last year before the playoffs the Cavs SLAUGHTERED GSW....I remember in 2007 the two times the Cavs played the Spurs they beat them- then got swept....regular season means very very little- especially considering the rotations, the schedule etc...everything is just totally different- the GAME is totally different in how its played...slowing it down and playing some half court without a doubt plays into LeBron's hands more than most.

lol... YOU'RE the one that specifically made a point as to HOW the Warriors won the 2 games vs the Cavs.

I'm simply contesting your point. If its not important at all HOW they won... they why did you point it out in the first place?

when you say "3 of their best players"- you really mean Bogut, Ezili, Iggy? those are 3 of their "best players"?

holy shit....just imagine if you would lose Klay AND (or) Draymond like the Cavs lost Irving and Love....would you just forfeit?

im beginning to like the Cavs being able to be under the radar and disrespected to a certain extent. That should play well.
Of course. If you don't know that, then you don't know the Warriors. The size that Ezili and Bogut bring is imperative against a big slow-moving team like San Antonio. No way does S.A. get all those offensive rebounds or be able to put 4 players at the 3-point line on defense. And Iguodala is the best 6th man in the league and is critical to the second unit.

They wouldn't forfeit. Look how hard those guys fought right down to the last minute even with horrendous shooting nights from Curry and Thompson and down three guys in the back end of a back to back. The Warriors are amazing.

I'm not gonna quote anyone but last game just proved to me that warriors will win in 5 or 6

But this year warriors played at your pace and won. 2nd game they played at the warriors pace and got smoked..

I'm pretty sure that the reg season games lost this year means LBJ & the Cavs are looking at losing HCA for starters.

But, you seem to have so much to say about GS. Where are all those books you post about how much better the Cavs are than the Heat after Saturday's game? :heh:

They'd be grabbing offensive rebounds and put backs plus preventing S.A. from all the offensive rebounds they got on their end. I may be wrong, but I think it will be a different story in Oakland next week if the Warriors are healthy.

True, but it isn't like Duncan is healthy either. He only got 8 minutes. Those players matter a lot honestly on both sides but it will come down to style of play in a 7-game series and a hell of a series.

I'm pretty sure Duncan got 8 minutes by design. Duncan didn't start the game. David West only played 8 minutes as well. With the Warriors forced to go small because of no Bogut and Ezeli, Pop countered putting a smaller lineup to match up with the Warriors.

I think the difference is that Duncan hasn't been a factor all year. He was one of the greats but he is now a liability. Even Diow is starting over him. Bogut and Iguodala are absolutely critical to Golden State's success.

Duncan still starts. It was Pop's decision not to start him, specifically against the Warriors. Duncan is still very much a big factor for the Spurs. He's averaging 25 minutes a game this year.

I agree but don't think that's the best way for them to get the maximum potential out of this team anymore. Saturday's game proved that they can handle games with him coming off the bench. I know, it so happened the Warriors were missing a lot of shots they often make-but I think in order for the Spurs to prepare for TD's retirement they have to start limiting his minutes considerably.

I'm pretty sure the Spurs will cross the bridge of not having Duncan when the time comes. For them to start right now wouldn't really help their championship aspirations. Against any other team, not named the Warriors, Duncan's production is vital. Especially on the defensive end, where he's still an elite big man.

I just think while he's still able to help they should start the transition and let LA get used to being the main focus. That way it isn't something that will have to be done at an accelerated pace when the time comes for TD to retire. I'm sure it isn't that far away as it is. Just my opinion.

I know it's not really Duncan's style, but I don't know if he would just come out and retire, without at least having his farewell tour. I think next year will be the year they'll phase him out. That's just the feeling I get from the whole situation. The Spurs started the year with a game plan and I don't think that really changes this far along in the season. Duncan has been as prominent as he has been in his last 2 years with the Spurs, as far as being incorporated on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

I totally agree with everything you mention here, but I just don't think it should be done according to TD's timeline anymore. I think that is why it took LA so long to get acclimated. I would be more concerned about stunting his growth that could have an impact on the team well after TD is gone.
