Why would a DA be in any trouble for charging a domestic assault which occurred on tape? That doesn't make any sense.

First, it wasn't domestic assault there mr. Lawyer.

You aren't answering the question you know I asked: Why would a prosecutor get in trouble for charging a crime which was captured on tape?

Your new little conspiracy theory, that Mixon plead guilty to an absurdly low sentence in order to help the Prosecutor protect the woman he punched, is just completely insane. But at least it means you are starting to recognize that he plead guilty to an absurdly low sentence (or rather, no sentence at all). That's better than your prior contention that a normal first-time offender could punch a woman in the face on tape breaking four bones and get the case dismissed if he does a little community service. Even if she called him the N-Word and hit him before, no, that is not normal.

Something fishy happened to keep Mixon out of trouble. The fishiest thing is that the case was apparently sent to City Attorney (Municipal Court). The police ought to be ashamed of themselves for that. And the skeptic in me thinks the video is not being released because Oklahoma football, the local police, and the City Attorney would be in for a shitstorm if the public sees what they gave a deferred sentence for.

And I don't think this is unique to Norman or anything. It's not exactly a secret that Bielema got calls immediately whenever players were arrested, and that coaches would get calls by police for unruly players before things ever got out of control. This time, it got taken way too far, though.

It should be a lesson to the college-town police departments to remember what their job ultimately is.

You don't even know hardly anything about the case yet you've constantly been quick to give your "expert legal opinion". You're a putz, by definition. GTFO. Same old Smart.

Did he punch her in the face?
Did he break four of her bones?
Did she use proportional force prior to getting punched?

I know the answer to those three questions. That is all I need to know in order to know Mixon got a light sentence.

I'm sorry that you don't understand how the law works. I'm sorry you have convinced yourself that a punch in the face (caught on camera) leading to broken bones is usually punished by dismissing the case after community service. I'm sorry that you have aligned yourself with the person who thinks I am evil because I think the people I prosecute are guilty. I don't know if you are genuinely mistaken or are blinded by your fandom, but it is unfortunate.

You can think this all you want. Just know that if, in the real world, you punch a woman and break her bones, you will likely be facing a felony. You will likely not get a deferral. You will probably end up with probation. This is true even if she slapped you or called you a bad name. You can dismiss me at your own discretion. For you, this is a little internet diversion. And I hope it stays that way. For the Victims of cases like this, it isn't. The people that assault them deserve more punishment than Mixon got. That is more unfortunate than any misconceptions you may have.

Please continue to tell us how great you are while not even knowing the case we are talking about, while claiming the DA that does actually know the case is crooked.

Because that's your claim here in a nutshell.

And again, what extra punishment do you think a first time offender is going to get here? The only difference is that it falls off his record.

2+ years of probation with a one year backup is what I said he would usually get along with 4 days of shock (and the 100 hours of community service he already did). There is a huge difference between that and a deferred prosecution.

The vast majority of criminal cases in this country end with probation. There are roughly 4 million people on supervised probation, ten million more on unsupervised probation (if not more), and a little over 2 million in prison. Most lawyers are fighting probation cases. Most trials feature a recommendation for probation. If you think it is the same as dismissal, you should probably talk to all the prisoners in this country. If they agree with you, you just eliminated 75% of the criminal justice system and saved them thousands in lawyer fees.

Sounds almost exactly like the diversion I was given.

It doesn't come off the record until you finish the programs and requirements.

I have no idea, but if she really hit him first on video, I would absolutely charge her. Without a video, you might have to pick which one to charge, but with a video, you don't have that issue.
What was her punishment from the school?

Watching the Sooner fan base cheer on the guy like he is a hero who knocked her unconscious and broke 4 bones in her face.

Fuck that bitch. If she would have been at home in the kitchen making sandwiches she wouldn't have got her face rocked.

From the sound of it, her punishment is just having to live in Oklahoma.
