Ok. I get it now. Somebody lost a bet and the loser has to be totally ignorant to common sense for a week.
Trevor Siemian - Elway fell in love with him - but needed a season to get him ready. ;)

Last preseason Siemian looked more confident and steady than Oz - I think the Broncos like him.
Wow. I know your trying to make this post seem like your not serious about

I know your trying to make this post seem like your only joking about Siemian but the fact that you really believe that is a viable answer or solution to letting Oz walk only solidifies that you really don't have a credible take on the question I asked you. I'm still waiting for your answer that you " really " think would justify Malik over Oz. It's also obvious that anyone that thinks Kap or RG would be an upgrade over Oz is definitely delusional and clueless. Nothing either one of them has done in the last two years comes close to a 5-2 record with minimal 1st team reps and wins over quality teams like Pats and Steelers and immense pressure to boot. I can't believe I actually have to defend Oz over these guys. If you want to argue over justifying releasing Oz over Malik, please just show me a scenario that would have at least a smidgen of sensibility. :)

Oz:

“Every single guy on this team embraced me, and that is something I think they all know how thankful I am for that, but this is the best team in the world and we have a very special group in our locker room"

Knight,
It's true the defense carried the team to a Super Bowl win and Malik Jackson was a big part of that. But that doesn't mean they can pull it off again. Teams that have won with defense haven't repeated when bringing back the same formula the following year. I believe the defense is good enough it can absorb the loss of Jackson. They have guys who can step in and they may be able to address the loss through the draft or FA. The dropoff from Jackson to whoever replaces him is more than made up for by Osweiler being able to improve the offense over last year's offense.

Think about this: The Broncos scored just over 22 PPG, and that's counting defensive scores. The defense is still going to be very good in 2016, but imagine if the offense is able to average 24-25 PPG? They don't need to be the 2013 Broncos offense. Imagine if they drive and score or even punt instead of turning the ball over and setting up the defense for failure.

That scenario is a wrinkle in the system. It gives the league more to look at than just the defense. If the Broncos defense can be top three in yards and scoring and the offense can be top ten in these areas I believe that'll translate to another 12-4 finish (or maybe even better) and a team poised for another deep playoff run.

If you have a real OL that is key ..

Add in wolfs 4 game suspension we never missed him .. bye , bye money guber

Also food for thought about Oz he played better than HOF QB's in the same games .. it was pretty cold in those games he played in .. warm games he is going to light teams up !

The goal is still the same - win the Super Bowl

I don't see what QB we could get that will give us a chance at repeating that will come cheaper than Oz

I see where Ming is going with this though - esp with the "Could we have won the SB with Tebow" thread ..

I just don't see what QB would come at such a reasonable price that could lead this team to repeat

The only QB I would get excited about coming here would be Kaepernick, and with Chip Kelly now in SF, I don't think there's any way that is happening .. And even if Kap came here, would he come at a cheaper rate than Oz ??

Tebow Tebow Tebow !!!!

All kidding aside our RG would Explode .....and IMO teams would have to load the box so badly when hit the WR he would only need to beat his man and TD..

I actually voted for Malik. He is the proven commodity and is an important reason this defense has been special. For those saying that Malik is easier to find a replacement for I would say I'm not sure I agree. Malik is one of those guys that helps in both the run and pass game. Most DT/DE's are more of a specialist one way or the other. Looking around the league I wouldn't say there are a ton of them that I would take over Malik right now. Osweiler on the other hand while he showed some glimpses of being a good QB he still finished bottom 1/3rd of the league in QB Rating and from what I understand in the Chargers game that part of the reason Kubiak decided to pull Osweiler was because he was losing his cool and his teammates were starting to see it. Great learning experience that I hope he can grow from but it does show the kid still has a lot to learn if he is our long-term solution.

Now having said that the more I have listened to some reports this week the more I actually do think we find a way to keep both. From the sound of it quite a few of the veterans are going to have to sit down with Elway and discuss their future with the Broncos beyond Manning. Clady as we know said he is willing to restructure but remember restructure doesn't mean cut. From what I understand Clady actually wants to still be able to make as much money but have his contract extended further out lowering his cap hit this year but actually still making the same money. The Broncos though are looking for him to take a straight pay cut not restructure. So if Clady is cut then good chance both Malik and Oz can get extended. I've also been hearing they are talking about having the same conversation with Talib and Ware as both are at positions on the team that are deep and that the team feels like they could cut some fat from the cap and still have a very productive group that is on the field. I mean both of their replacements were drafted in the 1st round the last 2 years and both have shown huge promise already.

So again I actually think the Broncos get both Malik and Oz done by the time FA rolls around. Just a matter of are Talib, Ware, Clady, and maybe others still on the team?

I would be shocked - and upset - to see Talib let go ... I just don't see that happening ...

Talib is not one of the replaceable guys on that defense - one of my favorites ... Roby is fine as the 3rd CB, but there is a huge drop off between him and Talib IMHO

Just reporting what I have been hearing. The team really likes Talib but at the same time they see the production from Roby and see that we have an embarrassment of riches at the Corner position with even Webster showing some ability as well. Throw in then we drafted a couple of corners this past year and will want to see what we have in them too. Unfortunately this is the value of winning in sometimes we have to say good bye to some players we like. I hated seeing Franklin go this past year as he was the one OL guy that seemed to have that nasty streak in him where you didn't want to go against him when he was mad.

Now realize I don't think Talib will be cut. My guess is they give him one more year before that becomes more of a reality. I do think Clady though is likely to be cut. Like I said he is wanting to restructure not actually take a pay cut where the team sees a guy who has missed 2 of the past 3 years and his one year he didn't he wasn't all that great. My guess is the Broncos will try to get him to take a pay cut with the ability to possibly win the money back with his play on the field like they did with Manning this year but have to see how he handles that. Manning hated it but realized the Broncos were his best shot at a Super Bowl so he took it and it paid off.

Smile. You're not fooling me Cd. I've known you too long. I know you've seen this and your driving yourself nuts trying to think of a plausible, realistic solution that your not even going to believe either regarding this silly option. But you'll give it 100% that's a given. ;) :)

Well, news is that the broncos are talking with Malik now. Not sure if that was a cherry picked news blurb or if we are focusing on Malik first.

Looks to me we are going to sign him and lose some old bones just my guess ..

Here are some of the more "popular" candidates, and the 2016 cap space that would be cleared after dead money is accounted for if they were released:

DeMarcus Ware: $10.0M

Ryan Clady: $8.9M

Aquib Talib: almost $7M

Louis Vasquez: $5.5M

TJ Ward: $3.25M

Owen Daniels: $2.5M

Britton Colquitt: $3.25M

My guess 2 or 3 of these guy gone to sign him .

We are keeping Oz

68 Harris, Ryan a cheep deal to be our starting RT then Draft the future RT..

Keep all this D together Ware missed time and it still smothered teams ...We drafted Ware replacement this off season he needs to get with it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that the message being sent by the Broncos is that when Malik gets a lot more from someone else, the team will be able to say "we really tried." When he didn't take a contract and Wolfe did, I think that was a clear sign that he won't be signed.
