Oklahoma is welcome in the PAC
Oklahoma is welcome in the PAC
I was hoping they were coming last time. Its A perfect fit imo. And i would love to see A rivalry form with the tradition and success of the USC and Oklahoma programs. Its good for the game imo. And I agree rrso doesn't get cut off regardless. Texas would be losing A lot if they dropped it. It carries on as an out of conference rivalry no different than USD/Notre Dame if Oklahoma shifts conferencesI think that's where we'll end up.
Just sit back and watch.
That's where politics come in. The governor has the power to override any decision by the BOR and guess where she went to school. From a political standpoint a decision that hurts either school is suicide. I could see a situation where both schools end up in different P4/5 conferences (and that might be the only way something amicable would work) but y'all ain't doing shit unless we agree to it. Too many things other than football at play there.
Dream on.
Oklahoma is welcome in the PAC
ESPN funds a private network for OU's closest rival. I'm not sure anyone in CFB has more right to complain about the state of things
Texas sold its 3rd tier rights.
It was not a charity case. ESPN bought the rights for 300 million.
That is exactly what everyone did as well including OU. And the teams have being doing it for 22 years.
The ability to sell 3rd tier has been around since 1994. That law was co-sponsored by OU and A&M.
Texas actually was the very last Big 12 team to make any money from it. It was largely ignored by Texas.
The Horns waited until 2011. All the other teams were already making cash, but Texas was not really.
Are the Sooners so jealous that the Mountaineers, Jayhawks, and Horns stuff was more valuable and fetched a higher price??? Or is he mad at himself for getting ripped off and selling his stuff for pennies??
That hypocrite would have zero issues if the Sooner Network made similar money as WVU, KU, and Texas.
It comes back to the entire thread premise.
OKLAHOMA is spouting off and trying to force an agenda for themselves without any regard for others.
At least that is what the other members of the Big 12 believe to be true...OU fans might disagree.
And KANSAS STATE has had enough.
KANSAS STATE told OU to shut the fuck up, sit down, and never say another freaking word.
The very first post on this thread summed it up.
As Texas fans, we get blamed for everything.
It is time the Sooners learned what that feels like a bit.
...........
TEXAS is being exceedingly quiet and enjoying the drama without being the scapegoat target for once.
Similar to Nebraska, it's not about the population of Oklahoma or the number of TV's in Oklahoma.
I'll drink to that. But, things ain't right lessen' the dirt burglers and rusty cows are a feudin'!Guys, let's just grab some Buds and relax. No one is going anywhere.
Slight but important diffrences...
1) Nebraska was able to get the Big 10 its 12th team in order to produce the lucrative Championship game.
That 12th team effect of the title game was lucrative regardless of the TV market size. Utah played a similar role for the PAC-12. Utah is not a brand name nor is it populous. It is however the magic #12.
2) Nebraska came dirt cheap. They were only making about 7 million in the Big 12.
Making 14 million for a few years in the Big 10 seemed like a huge raise even if it was a HALF SHARE.
Nebraska was willing to work for HALF WAGES. It was a bargain for the Big 10.
In fairness, Nebraska (or nobody on the planet) knew the Big 12 teams would get overpaid by a staggering amount a few months later. NU doesn't take that shitty Big 10 deal if they knew it.
Compare that to the OU situation:
OU is not going to make the 12th team difference anywhere.
OU is not going to come cheaply. They already make 30 million or thereabouts in the Big 12.
