Last year, as you may have heard, the Patriots were accused of deflating footballs during the AFC Championship game. While it was never proven definitively, an investigation deemed it was likely. Tom Brady destroyed his cell phone instead of handing it over as evidence and invented a cover story about using “deflator” in the context of losing weight because he’s a bad liar and the sort of dumb person who likes having Donald Trump as a friend.
So, when Von Miller intercepted Brady during this year’s AFC Championship game, the Broncos’ linebacker kept the ball as a souvenir. In a video for BSN Denver Sports, Miller grabs the ball out of his locker and says, “Man, this ball feels a little flat to me,” because Miller is great.
It’s also an accidental double joke, as Miller is shooting a video of the Broncos locker room, which is probably a thing the Patriots would do if they could.
The Broncos are likely to lose to the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl, but beating the Patriots will always be its own reward that can’t be taken away.
