I didn't say Murphy got the sack against GB. I was referring to PS and assumed you would be intelligent enough to know that. Murphy only played 16 snaps against GB and Ps had a chance to shine. He shined for one play and then was neutralized and brutalized the rest of the game...by a grocery bagger.

Sacks is not a metric...it is simply a statistic. There is no formula for a sack. Playing the run is not about making the tackle yourself.

First two years of their careers:
Michael Strahan- 5.5
Chris Doleman- 3.5
Rickey Jackson-4.5

Here are a few Hall of Famers who had less than Murphy.
I read the first paragraph again again after reading SoCal's post. The entire paragraph you were using "he" to describe Murphy. So sorry if I misunderstood, it was not clear and that hardly makes my other points invalid.

First you say he is playing ahead of Smith for a reason and that means he was better, now you use his lack of playing time as an excuse for his poor numbers. See the problem here? You can't have it both ways.

But you really need to back the fuck off with the nasty tone, not sure where that's coming from.

thank you dgfan for the backup. That is what Ive been trying to say to theses guys. If offered a 3rd or 4th rounder for murphy I think the skins take it. What do you thing dgfan?

Nope. He is an established NFL player even if he is below average IMO. The odds of finding that in the 4th, even with SM drafting, are not worth the risk of trading a good depth guy.

Fair enough on the first part.

I said he was the starter and got more PT as a reason to believe he is a better football player. I was referring to one game when I mentioned the playing time. I was referring to the playing time because PS got his chance. He made one good play in the game and was dominated throughout the rest.

My tone comes from you still not understanding the words that are written, you trying to correct me when you didn't understand, and now you cussing like you could do anything.

Dude you really need to chill out. I am now learning from others that this is a pattern with you, one I had not noticed until today.

First off if I didn't understand what you said then you were not clear, obviously. One look at that paragraph in question confirms this. My cussing had to do with your tone which was confrontational (to say the least) from the very beginning despite my request that you calm down.

It's a message board dude. It's for sharing opinions and debating positions. You need to learn how to work and post better with others.

Yep...I get mad when people misrepresent me and it shows in tone...just like it does with you and every other person here. Go back and see where it got confrontational...it was by you when you misrepresented me by stating my opinion as Murphy is better than PS. I have deferred that to the coaches and had the same questions at to why PS wasn't getting more earlier in the season.

The paragraph you are referring to...that you misunderstood. Yes, I was using the pronoun "he" to make statements that some of you like to make about Murphy. I again used the word "he" in that paragraph to now refer to PS because you mentioned impact plays. I gave you credit enough to know that the word "he" was used to describe PS because he got the sack against GB, a huge impact play, and the rest of the sentence was to describe how PS was destroyed by GB the rest of the game. One impact play does not make up for a poor overall performance in the game. I will take a solid game by a player over poor play with a single great play. You are the one who could not understand context and wanted to assume I was wrong. You were not looking for a way to strengthen your own argument with facts...you were looking for a way to disprove me to hurt my argument.

You need to not tell people what to do or correct them when they are not wrong. You need to bring evidence to a discussion and actually read other people's evidence.

Lets all take a deep breath. Realize we can ALL be assholes at times and misunderstand the points trying to be made, and keep it cordial between Skins fans.

Fuck Dallas though.

No worries Shark. I didn't even read his entire post, the lectures are getting a bit too much for me.

Peace everyone.

NO worries, I can sling opinion and bullshit with the best of them. I just kinda think as Skins fans, we can disagree without getting all personal and shit. Its fine if you THINK some one is full of shit and a midiot for some of the stuff they say. Just think we are all grown enough to disagree without getting into the 5th grade personal insults shit. :D

i have to agree with GK on this the track record of 3rd round picks and 4th rounders says it all

murphy fits nicely into a potential 4 man rotation of smith kerrigan , gallette and himself it is called depth , starter quality depth at a good price we need to keep depth not get rid of it

we have 8 picks in this draft with one of the best talent guys in the biz . i am sure we will get more

the only way i would trade murphy is for a player who could help us a RB or a wr or a DB or d/lineman , someone who is as established as he is but not for a BS 3rd or 4th round pick . murphy i better then any 4th rounder or 3rd rounder we will get

We have 8 picks? I thought we were down to 6 with the 5th going for the warm body at TE (still regret that trade)

If you look at our draft from two years ago. Moses was a 3rd and Breeland was a 4th round pick. Sometimes you can strike gold in these rounds. NO bullshit about that skinsdad. ESPN just had a blog about the 2014 draft. They claimed the best pick in that draft was Breeland. A 4th rounder.

Breeland is severly underrated. If Culliver returns I just don't see corner as a huge need. Hell even without him it wasn't a huge hole this year with the way Jarrett, Dunbar etc filled in.

NOt saying Cb is a huge need, just saying you can strike gold with 3rd and 4th round picks at any position.

Shark, 5th grade was a good year for me. I got mostly Excellents and a few Very Goods. I prefer not to forget that year. :2cents:

Let's change the Murphy discussion to this hypothetical. When we drafted Murphy in 2014, we actually traded down and swapped second rounders with the Cowboys that same year. With our second rounder, they drafted DeMarcus Lawrence. Who would you rather have now?

Before you answer that, we got the Cowboys third rounder that year and selected Spencer Long.

Any thoughts?

Welcome back! Hope the family is okay. SoCal has been a balmy 70+ degrees in the past few days. I'm sure you're glad to come back to that!
