Yes, another young one I have enjoyed watching.
Jerry Brewer is such a pleasure to read.
That's an interesting point. It's gotta be hard covering a team for years of ineptitude but you still have to be professional. It's one of the reasons I appreciate Keim and Jones. Jerry has been a really nice addition.Thats because he hasnt been tainted by the name hater crowd at WAPO. He can maintain objectivity and doesnt feel that his career will be best advanced by bashing the local team at every turn possible. You can bet Stienberg was literally itching to write the next melt down piece had we lost that game.
This penalty issue has gotten out of control. Here's the question......how can coaching affect this? Is this more on the players poor execution or is this indicative of a leadership problem?
I get that the league has set up the rules to favor the offense, but that doesn't explain all of thE offensive penalties we incur every week. Hell, the first play of the game we have an illegal formation call. The first play! They script out the first few series in practice every week. How the hell can you have an illegal formation on something that you've run in practice multiple times in preparation for the game?
The penalty thing is an indication of where the NFL is going and what they want. Notice that more calls go against the defense and defensive penalties tend to be harsher. The only thing wrong with how we are playing in most cases is, we are not playing soft enough to allow the 45-40 shootouts that the NFL ultimately wants. Excitement sells tickets and beer.
Gotta give credit to Garcon who is ripped by the fans way too often. The guy was clutch & super tough. Can't wait to see him team again with Jackson especially since some of the younger receivers are now stepping up.
