This penalty issue has gotten out of control. Here's the question......how can coaching affect this? Is this more on the players poor execution or is this indicative of a leadership problem?

You've got to contribute a lot of it to lack of discipline, which is still a holdover issue from previous seasons. This is not necessarily a coaching issue than a cultural one that can be corrected in time with the infusion of more new faces. There are still too many guys on the team with imperfect practice habits.

Take a look - many NFL teams have # of penalty & penalty yards that are very close to the Redskins. This is a very flag happy league at this time. Some other teams will have similar #s once they play their 4th game.

I would also expect the #s for the Redskins to be higher than most since you are dealing with a lot of players that are new to the team & in many cases relatively new to the NFL. The key will be whether they work this out as the season progresses. I would hope for this on the offensive side. On the defensive side? Who knows because it appears that the refs will throw flags for BS calls regardless. Good job Goodell!

I really think this trend is not good for the league. It's just slows down the game and frustrates the fans. I bet we eventually see a pullback trend in the near future.
