SI actually has a decent article on their website on why the league doesn't trust the Patriots. It's not bad. Talks to the Patriots of course but also the paranoia about the Patriots.

Rest of NFL still suspicious of Patriots' methods

More than paranoia, it is the lack of trust that the Patriots will play the game by the rules. Everyone wants to win when they play on Sunday. They just want to know if their is at least a fair game.

When you start attributing everything to the opposing team, when nothing is found, it becomes paranoia too.
That's not what happened though. Nothing found? Things were found, they just destroyed it and quashed a full investigation of other teams concerns. So they went on Defcon, since the league decided (wrongly) it's in the best interest to shut it down and pretend like nothing happened.

You think they are sweeping for bugs and producing dummy sheets of the opening play script for the PATS ONLY simply out of paranoia?

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the safeguards teams take (which often turn up nothing) or players sentiments that "something strange happened" That's the paranoia part.

Have the Patriots brought a lot of this on themselves? Oh hell yes. Pushing the envelope, finding the loophole, bending the rules until someone complains.. Oh yeah.

The article talks to both points which I thought was good. Did you read the article?

Jeebus, now there is a story saying "multiple Teams" called the Seahawks unsolicited before the SB to warn them of Pats shenanigans. This is getting ridiculous. Even for Pats fans it must be starting to look a little suspicious. Surely not every single article is wrong?

Here are some of the things the article says teams do when playing New England:
SI also detailed ways in which teams have prepared for the Patriots over the years.

  • Cleaning out trash cans from hotels while playing in New England
  • Running fake plays at Saturday's walkthrough in Gillette
  • Leaving Gillette to practice elsewhere
  • Barracading the vistors' locker room with equipment
  • "At least five teams have swept their hotels, locker rooms or coaches' booths in New England for listening devices"
  • Refusing to let the Patriots unload equipment at Gilette

It also says that during the SB the Seahawks used "secret service" like security to protect themselves from spying. This is crazier and crazier and looking worse and worse.

When you start attributing everything to only one single team all the time, it's not paranoia, it's knowing that unfair advantage is at play here.

Apparently, everyone hates the Patriots. So, yes, every article hating the Patriots is wrong. Check WEEI for more accurate information.

That would be a Patriots centric way to describe it.
its common sense

lose badly in court, try and win the resulting PR battle

you REALLY cant see how odd this is that the first day everyones back at work, after along weekend...the week AFTER goodell was raped in a court he chose...you REALLY dont see any coincidence here?

i mean, first day back at work where all people do is talk this shit...these "anonymous sources" we never heard before, stories we never heard...ALL of the sudden come out to make the patriots look bad?

i have a certain level of pity ready if so...

When you use poorly written reports that use unnamed sources along with rumor and innuendo to attempt to smear the team that has been crushing your hopes that is called paranoia.

I think it's ridiculous to think the league office is in any way responsibile for the reporting we are seeing now. They don't want this anymore than the Pats do. They went to great lengths extraordinary lengths to try and prevent the kinds of questions that are being asked right now.

This isn't retribution from Goodell. This is the dam breaking that Goodell and the Pats have been trying to hold back.

Lifted from another thread.
Digging even deeper and going back further I uncovered that Patriots dumped even more tea than noted in history books in the Boston harbor. I have forwarded my findings to Goodell and suspensions will be handed down for this nearly 242 year old violation. Stay tuned I'm checking the Stone Age next

and

I find it funny that the NFL's self appointed guard dog got beat up for the last three months and is now trying to deflect it's failure by exhuming a corpse.

This would amount to self immolation simply for revenge because you didn't win a legal fight.

That's what you want us to believe.

or, this would amount to goodell cutting off his nose to spite his face, on purpose.

its like 2 boxers in a ring...one guy knocks the piss out of the other, gets a 10 count...fights over, and the guy on the mat gets up and cheap shots the winner.

ever watch wrestling? those guys do this same thing with chairs all the time...

Exactly. The league offices look worse for this story than the Pat's do. We all knew that Belichick* and the Patriots* were a bunch of cheating A-holes with no respect for the game. Now we know the league office helped cover up the extent of their crimes.

Goodell is the only one who can get in trouble here. The Patriots issues are closed (for better or worse).

So you want us to believe he's responsible for further trashing his own legacy and possibly putting his own job in jeopardy, just to impugn the Patriots as well?

That's not the Roger Goodell I know. The one that goes to great lengths to put the shield first.

The author of that article is a Pulitzer finalist, and pretty sure has much more than your Boston sports reporters.

Also, no journalist or reporter will ever reveal their sources. Just because they label them as un-named sources doesn't make it false.
