I can definitely see that happening. About the only thing that can keep that from happening is if we suffer a long term injury by a corner OFer and Rua comes up and performs as well or better than he did late last year. That might cause the team to view him more favorably and pencil him into the lineup for next year. I just don't think that is going to happen though. Some team is going to get a good OF in trade for not much at all I am afraid.

I was really hoping he would be at least a bridge until one of our prospect OFers is ready. I thought he would get the chance this year to prove he could do that

Smolinski never showed anything that made me believe he'd ever be anything more than a bench guy.
