I think he's barely in the discussion at this point.. "Yeah he's great but..."

He and Denver had an amazing record breaking season only to cough up a gargantuan hair-ball of epic proportions in the Superbowl.

So bad that all records from that season are barely mentioned.

He's going to need a really good season this year.

and it could happen. Anything short of a SB win and it will be a memory. His legacy might be better served to not go to playoffs than to go and not win. He has been a great QB and Denver still has enough to be considered a contender. It is still hard to go all the way. Doesn't get easier when the body starts to break down.

A lot will depend on whether the last third of the season for Denver and Manning was an injury related aberration or the first real step towards falling off the cliff.

They could "take some pressure off him" through the first half but then that might backfire into falling apart later.
They might be better off for him to fall earlier and then let a rookie get in fresh. I don't know.....

They tried that. I don't think you can hide that kind of thing. Teams were daring Manning to throw more than 5 yards and he couldn't even do that well. If it was an injury he'll be better this year.

How would it? He's suspension is in regards to not cooperating with the investigation. It's the public hysteria that's implying he cheated for the Colt's game.

I know you want to believe this, but it's not the truth. An overwhelming majority of Americans view both Brady and the Patriots as cheaters. This isn't the type of thing that goes away over time. It sticks. I'd like for Ryan Braun to eventually repair his reputation but that isn't happening, either.

I agree and disagree. An overwhelming number of NFL fans and haters alike will always associate Brady and the PATS as cheaters just as an overwhelming number of people believe OJ did it. I know they're different scenarios but it's about the public's mindset. Not sure if you were associating Braun's case to Brady's but here, we have someone who failed a blood/urine test (Braun) whereas Brady... until he confesses to deflating footballs or proven guilty, people just hate him for being associated to the Patriots.

Don't know how much it will affect Brady's legacy, but one thing is for sure: He didn't need this scandal, which by all means was created by his arrogance. Whether the accusations are true or not is secondary. If his reputation will be tarnished in the history books is anyone's guess. Maybe if he would have been more forthright at the outset, things would be different. Instead of coasting downhill, Sir Thomas has created for himself an uphill climb. In retrospect, the simple decisions always turn out to be the hardest ones.
