I don't know... its a trending topic on non-sporting news sites as is... would be much bigger had he said cracker.

As for whether it would be as big in the media as a white player calling a black player the N word... I agree that it would not be nearly as big as that.

There's a very good reason for that, IMO. This nation has an embarrassingly recent history of the white race badly mistreating the black rice. The historical context is what makes it a bigger issue, and completely justifiable, imo.

In a vacuum... or in an ideal society... there would be no difference. In the context of our nation's history... there's an important difference.
Well, either way that's not what he said, and obviously he meant nothing racist by it. He's only guilty of piss poor sportsmanship imo.

Honestly I think Trey Lyles is just as mediocre.. Though the Harrison twins are not NBA players at this point.. KAT was the only skilled player on that team... Everyone else rode size and talent..

Andrew Harrison was obviously frustrated and I don't think much if any of it has to do with race. That said, any white guy that's had a good day or two on the court against some black guys knows that's it's not exactly uncommon for the trash talk from said black guys to get real racist, real quick, and that can be followed by a physical confrontation if their fortune doesn't change. So there may be a bit of a undertone of racism here that the professional victims, genuine hate-mongers, crude minority apologists, and otherwise ignorant people would quickly like to deny and/or ignore.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and chalking this up to an immature kid, that appears to be a poor sport, saying something stupid in an uncomfortable moment. Not to mention, he was arguably a key factor in that choke-job, despite Cal trying to protect him.

That said, as others, I find the hypocrisy of the acceptance of the situation laughable. Don't hold him seriously accountable, and you fuel the flames of hate, but that's obviously all some people care about anyway.

A white Badgers player says that last year after Kentucky beats them and he's kicked out of school and is savaged on social media by the free world. Nothing will happen to Harrison. The old PC double standard.

"I was just kidding."

Okay, you're forgiven.

Take out the n-word and he still a said "fuck that guy". How is that acceptable? Does he not realize there is a microphone in front of his face? Who else has made a comment like that and gotten away with it? The whole situation just kind of reminds me when Vick flipped the bird to the media. Part of being a basketball player is having situational awareness and off of the court he doesn't seem to have much of it.

Don't get mad at the media for the double standard, blame the root of the problem, this country's founding fathers!

Of course. He's black and black people aren't racist. They can't be. Frank was forgiving, but doubt Harrison would be so polite if the tables were turned.

I just don't see it as a racist comment man. Anybody can be racist, but explain to me how being called ***** by a black guy, which is often just how they refer to people in general is even remotely the same as the opposite. It's never been a term used to degrade white people.

Reverse Racism. As everyone has already said, if Kentucky had one and a white player on Wisconsin said that all hell would have broken loose.

Do I think he meant it. No, I don't, doesn't mean he should have said what he said. I get he apologized but this will get swepped under the rug when I don't think it should have.

and why should that even be "accepted" though? It's the N word and it flat out wrong regardless of who says it and who they say it to imo.

It Isn't accepted and he apologized, I still think people that think he was being racist are just looking for it.

Awww are you upset because you can't say the N word and have it accepted by society? I am so sorry for your loss of the word from your vocabulary. Really I am.

you were claiming that it was when a black person said it to another black person.. That shouldn't be the case.

As far as this, I get he apologized and all but it's still completely wrong imo that he said it and I fully believe it was reversed all hell would have been broken.

Ok, I never said acceptable, just not racist. If a you hear a white guy call another white guy a cracker, Is your first thought that he is a racist piece of shit? Be honest with yourself here.

I can't believe the way this has been portrayed in the news media. This was not a racial slur in this context!
