I've never liked the Harrisons, but the other UK guys that I've heard speak (WCS, Towns, Booker, Ulis) all seem like great kids. I hope people don't judge the entire team's character by one idiot.

Definitely an idiot for saying it while in front of a mic and a camera... but For the Record... he clearly didn't intend to say it on national tv. The comment was intended for himself and/or his twin brother.

That doesn't excuse it... I only bring it up because some are acting like he intentionally said it on national tv.

In the NBA, when one guy loses to another, they hug and smile and talk about when they are going to hang out after the game.

IMO... there are just as many examples of players showing good sportsmanship in college as NBA... and there as just as many examples of NBA players showing passion and anger towards their enemy after a loss (esp playoffs) as in college.

I don't actually think what Harrison did was all that bad. But the point is he doesn't know Kaminsky. Kaminsky wasn't on the McD AAU circuit. He lost and he's pissed. There's some acrimony there.

All the guys in the NBA know each other. Even though LeBron might not be friends with Tony Parker and Nowitzki, they know each other and are cordial. And Paul, Curry, LeBron, Wade, etc are all like butt buddies. They all know each other from the AAU circuit.

Oh ok, gotcha. That makes sense to me. Its a lot easier to have ill feelings towards someone for beating you when you don't even really know them. Its especially hard to hear praise heaped upon that person or be asked (like they always are) to heap praise upon them right after losing to them.

I don't know... its a trending topic on non-sporting news sites as is... would be much bigger had he said cracker.


As for whether it would be as big in the media as a white player calling a black player the N word... I agree that it would not be nearly as big as that.

There's a very good reason for that, IMO. This nation has an embarrassingly recent history of the white race badly mistreating the black rice. The historical context is what makes it a bigger issue, and completely justifiable, imo.


In a vacuum... or in an ideal society... there would be no difference. In the context of our nation's history... there's an important difference.

Is anyone surprised.? The fact that the Harrison twins left the court last night without shaking hands should probably tell you that they don't think too highly of Wisconsin.

This is the most important part of the whole situation to me. In and of itself, I don't think the comment alone is really such a huge deal. I'm not apologizing for him, but "*****" is definitely part of AA lexicon, whereas the word is not for whites in America. To me, it's really as normal to me as if a white guy said "Fuck that dude." I don't think any race should use the word, but that's a conversation for another day.

All of that aside, I think the comment he made was bad sportsmanship, but the worst offense to me is when they didn't shake hands after the game. Then he made the comment? That's where I have a problem. He makes them out to be friends, or at least (known and respected), but that's bullshit when you won't even shake his hand, and then you make that comment.

Those tweets were nothing more to me than damage control. Grow the fuck up.

He's a jackass and his brother and him so overrated. This was no fluke. If they had a solid backcourt they'd be one of the greatest teams ever. But those two are horribly average and the offense looks bland as hell as a result. If he's pissed then he should look in the mirror and be cussing at himself for being so mediocre.
