Poor taste, Mr. Romo. Clearly, that was a private conversation. It makes Murray look bad, and it makes Romo look worse for putting it out there, assuming it was true. The Cowboys had no plans on keeping Murray. Romo is making huge bucks and Jones would look like an utter fool if the running game takes them farther than Romo's arm.

The Cowboys have won five Super Bowls in their history, two with HOF Staubach, three with HOF Aikman. But in all five, the running game made the offense tick, not the golden arms of Aikman and Staubach. They sure better hope McFadden can repeat what Murray did, or they won't go as far as they did this past year.

This is a very good draft for RB's and with their o-line the running game won't be an issue. I don't think McFadden is going to provide too much other than some training camp snaps.

Well there is no link or story other than the little info you gave so I need I need to Google this to find the article now. But,,,,Makes Romo look bad? IMO It makes Murray look bad IF TRUE. You don't ask another player that, that's f'in bull shit if he did it. Simple fact is Dallas would have had no problem at all clearing cap space for Murray if they wanted to. They didn't think he was worth anywhere near the Huge contract that Philly gave him. Has nothing to do with Romo.

And what do Cowboy SBs from the 70s and 90s have to do with this team? That doesn't make any sense. With their OL they will be able to run the ball better than most teams, but you are correct to assume that the current cast of characters will be a huge drop off from Murray. But, that is life in a salary cap world and they are much better off letting Murray go than giving him a contract like Philly did. Hopefully they find a capable back or group of backs, or improve the defense enough to offset the loss. They won't have a problem scoring points.

As far as going as far as they did last year they actually are set up much better. Wash is still Wash. Philly took a step backwards and the Giants are kind of the wild card in the division and hte team most likely to improve a lot over the previous year. Right now I'd think Dallas is the odds on betting favorite for the division, but who cares in April, too much can change.

DeMarco Murray is always injured. Why would you want to give him a huge contract?

How dare Romo take a paycut! Bradford would never lower himself to such levels

What a selfish, Dick move by Murray.

guess he was really wanting to stay and not have to go to a team going nowhere fast even though Stephen Jones was adamant that they were not going to push Romo's money further out.

What's asinine is Romo going to a reporter with this.

Players discuss salaries with each other all the time... in private conversations.

Agree with OP, classless of Romo to publicly trash his former teammate like that. Lot of salt there.

Eagles may have overpaid, but they upgraded over McCoy and saved salary cap. Was a good move by them overall. Cowboys fans just want to be OK with Murray leaving, which is understandable because they're Cowboys fans. And it probably was the Cowboys' only option considering their other assets.

From an outsider's POV, it looks like everyone won.

Actually Cowboy fans ARE OK with Murray leaving. Love the player, but most of us agreed with the line drawn in the sand even if our line was a little further out than the teams. Was adding Murray to Sproles, Mathews and Polk and letting Maclin go the best use of cap dollars??? Time will tell...

Romo told Murray to accept less money to stay, so Murray asked Romo to split the difference. The real bitch here is Romo. Like that was in question.

Unless your name is barry sanders or walter payton running backs in this league are a dime a dozen. Murray was a product of his line.

LOL...and we can add emmitt to that list but I'm sure that will be playing into your post here.

The line in Dallas is good, but hasn't "arrived" just yet as all time greatness with plug and play RB's. Murray had a huge role with running success in Dallas last season and has actually been good in prior seasons....however, it helps me see why you left out emmitt in the first place. Shame....really is and borderline football clueless

Yeah anyone who thinks that Murray's 1800+ yards last year was just due to the OL and that Dallas can spend pennies on the dollars to replace him and get similar production are idiots.
