Taking Marcus Smith last year in the first round. He could say all he wants that he did not have final say but he was involved in the decision making process. We needed secondary help very badly and I just don't see how the organization had Smith ranked higher than Dennard or Roby. Cutting DJac would be #2 more so because we got nothing in return. McCoy was one of my favs but I can see why they traded him and I am thrilled to see what our trio of backs will do this season.

Williams had one year left on his contract at what about $8M? I have a tough time believing he is not way better than Thurmond, especially after the contract Seattle gave him. Lets face it. At this time, the secondary is probably way worse than last year. They lost three starters, two of which signed really good contracts elsewhere and replaced them with one guy. At a minimum, Williams would be a good bridge tot he rookie.

I have an even tougher time believing Williams can play any better. We needed to clean house and I'm glad we did. Maxwell is better than any CB we had on the roster last year. Waiting to make the transition doesn't make the team any better. Just look at last season when we passed on Roby. And do you really think we'll miss Nate?
There's no way our secondary is going to be worse. We were at the bottom anyway.

I disagree with this - he may have had a say but Howie was still making the final call. I totally got the vibe last year that Howie had 6-7 guys he thought would be in play and at 22 he would get one of them. It didn't work, he traded down, and reached for a guy on his 2nd tier. If it were completely up to Chip he would have taken Matthews at 26 instead.

I do believe that Cary is not nearly as bad as some think he is, but I think it was more of him not fitting into the culture here as to why they moved on from him.

For me it would be cutting DeSean with nothing in return - I would do that one over and trade him somewhere for a draft pick - I have a hard time believing they couldn't get something for him if they were a bit more patient.

Trading Foles for Sam Bradford hands down. It's a brutal trade.

The rest I actually supported. I wish they would have kept Maclin but understand that was about not overpaying a receiver.

After gathering my thoughts after the initial shock on the Bradford trade, I think it's hard to assess that until it plays out a bit. I do agree they gave up too much for my liking to get him, but assuming the worst is behind him injury-wise you have a guy that can run this offense with precision. Just have to get him a legitmate target or two on the perimeter (someone who can stretch and prevent defenses from stacking the box in the run game). Remember Foles is in a division where he's going up against some really tough defenses twice a year, I'm interested to see how he performs against them.

Agreed on Maclin - he is not a $11M/yr receiver IMO.

Cutting Desean for nothing is inexcusable. A complete joke of a move. I would undo that one.

Not franchising Maclin is another poor move and at the same position. Now we have a huge hole at WR.
