Well it was explained today by the VP of officiating that there is no rule against a player running on the field to argue a call. His interview is posted on CBS go read it. As for the call, its still not why the Lions lost, they sucked up the final 3 quarters with a measly 6 points, had 2:32 left and all three timeouts and fumbled not once but twice on the final drive. Its funny that none of you mention the BS calls against Dallas in the first half.

Probably has something to do with them getting all the calls in the second half. Don't you think?

How many times in the second half did we see Suh's jersey being pulled away from his body, or a cross-arm bar across his chest holding him back - and no flag?

You got lucky and it wont keep happening.

This week, Green Bay should shred you.

Always remember:

A football game is 60 minutes long.

Not 16 seconds long.

Yeah, but if that fumble at the end would've cost Dallas then it would've been pretty funny

Always an excuse for the Cowboy haters isn't there. If they Lose Romo's a choker, if they win someone gave it too them. Midnight you should know about having games handed to you, you're a Steeler fan.

Jim Caldwell is a bad coach and Stafford is not an elite QB.

???? Caldwell takes a team that was 11-21 over the last two seasons, and they go 11-5 and make the playoffs? He has some learning to do, but I'll take that from a first-year head coach.

I agree with the second statement. Stafford was 10th in yards, 21st in completion % and 19th in passer rating. Definitely not elite rankings. Too bad he's PAID like an elite quarterback. But give Matt the Cowboys' running game, and I think he fares a bit better.

shoulda', coulda' woulda' ... the lions had 60 minutes to nail that game door shut and failed to do so ... one play did not turn the game as everyone seems to claim ...

cant's wait to see all the Seahawk fans posts ...

This is stupid. Holding can be called on every damn play.

Following your line of argument, the holding penalty for the offense then should be discarded completely. I know the Dallas O-line would be happy if it were to be so. And it would make no difference for officials as well as announcers (who only comment on it once the refs have thrown the flag). You have holding, and you have blatant holding (choke tackling, outright tackling, jerking back and so on)...

Irony of course that on kick-offs (in particular) and for the defense they tend to throw them on ones that had either no impact or are complete phantoms.

I can somewhat comprehend it when it happens in a mass of players. But much of the time the holdings are blatant in the open, right under the noses of the referees. And yes, these non-calls significantly alter outcomes of games...

It's stupid to keep back-tracking like the continue to do. The game has been played. It's over. The result is not going to be changed. Continuing to admit that calls were missed is only going to fuel the fire.

Finally the truth about the end. Yes Dallas deserved the win, and Romo for once didn't throw a game changing pick in an important game. You don't blow a 14 point lead and blame it on one bad call.

So I saw the whole Lions-Cowboys game with no volume so Im a bit surprised to see everyone talking about the refs. Yeah, the refs grabbed a flag sometime halfway in the 4th quarter and there was a lot of football played after that. It was a penalty....it was a ticky/tack penalty, though. Not as bad as an Oregon CB tackling a Florida St WR in the endzone but it should've been called.

But lets face it: even if the flag was called, Stafford would've come short and Dallas would've gone the other way. Dallas basically gave Detroit a gift fumble and a gift running into the kicker in the 1st quarter and Dallas still won.

Jim Caldwell is a bad coach and Stafford is not an elite QB. I don't like the Cowboys much but they earned it and its done. The Cowboys oline was a wall at the end of the game and Romo had time to look over the field twice.

DAL won the game...I agree 100%...yes it was a bad call, but it was not a game changing play...I would've gone for it, but DET had been winning the LOS battle so I can see why Caldwell would punt at that point in the game. Bottom line was as you said...a lot of football was played after that.

Stafford is not elite, but I'm not sure why that matters here.

Caldwell...most of the bad coaches did not play any games in Jan...he's average. I give him props for not whining about the call and using that has a crutch.

I think its fair to point out that Stafford never wins big games at this point. Caldwell probably is average, too, but didnt go for it on 4th and short and Dallas went for it on 4th and medium. You'd think that Detroits offense with Megatron, Ebron, a good oline, a healthy Bush and Golden Tate would be able to get more points on the board.

Champions go for it on 4th down. Ask Seattle from last year.

Here's how it goes.
November Cowboys win: "Whatever, they'll fold in December like always. Romo will choke.
December Cowboys win all four games and Romo throws 0 ints: Whatever, Romo will choke in the playoffs!
Playoff game Cowboys win Romo throws two touchdowns and 0 ints: Whatever! Refs gave them the game. Romo is gonna choke!

I can just see if Romo throws even one interception in these playoffs, or if the Cowboys lose, even if it isn't Romo's fault at all: "BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! LOOK AT THAT CHOKE JOB! LOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL! ROMO GONNA ROMO! LALALALALALALALALALALALA!

Even if he won the Superbowl and did not toss a single int the entire playoffs people would still give credit to anyone but Romo.

To answer the question in the OP.

No. No chance.

Any sport that involves wagering can be compromised....especially if left to the judges or refs. Is it a sure thing? Of course not but in a tight game a few biased calls can go a long way to altering the result. I think that they should let the head office make the decisions just like they do in the NHL plus open it up to anything being reviewable. It sure would make me feel a lot better when the Fins play in NE....

You are so salty right now. Do you think the Eagles can beat the Seahawks in the divisional round... wait... sorry.

Not sorry.

Can't we just leave sports out of politics? Sure it would be smart that the Governor of New Jersey to root for the "hometown" teams but hell he was a fan of the Cowboys LONG before he took office... Just because now he is in New Jersey he should root for them? and as far as the owners box things goes, who cares? or why should we care? I would also be there in a heart beat regardless of the position I held.

Christie has zero chance of getting the GOP nod.

He has the political instincts of Pontious Pilate.
Did you get your talking points from Debbie Wasserman Schultz?
