This will be interesting. How will it affect Goodell and what kind of precedent will be set?

He can appeal it all day long. I don't think anyone would resign him anyway. Talk about a pubic relations nightmare

As long as Rice has something in the tank and can be better than a fringe player there ought to be plenty of interested teams. Many people, myself included, abhor what he did and don't think he should be banned from pro sports.
While the league shouldn't turn a blind eye to these things, I also don't think it sends a good message that anyone who ever made a mistake should be ostracized from employment.
Besides that he is just an avg back 3 yards a carry and only 4tds last year
So you think this was the first time he smacked her around? Because I'm about 99.9% sure it wasn't. In fact I'd put good money that it has happened since and will happen again.I have a daughter and seeing that would drive me to kill, but not on the 1st time...as much as I don't like what he did, Rice should and imo will play in the NFL again.

To be honest idk, but the fact that she's standing behind him tells me nothing on this level has happen before...NFL paycheck, money in the bank, or not...I don't see her staying around if that was not the 1st time.
A more false statement couldn't have been said.
if you read some articles or talk to some people who have stayed in abusive relationships, you'll notice that it is the norm for these girls to act like it never happens. It is the NORM for them to defend their abuser and make excuses for them. To see her up on the poduim taking blame for her "role" and continue to go through and marry him, this is not atypical of women in abusive realtionshiops.
It makes zero sense to us on the outside, but that is pretty much the fact of the matter.
As for Rice return, I think if he follows protocol and does what he needs to do, he should be allowed to return. However, if he misses this year, he'll be a 32ish year old RB coming off his worst year as a pro followed by a year off. Not exactly a good case for signing the guy.

every expert I heard said that what they viewed on the video indicates he has done this before. they could tell by the fact that after he knocked her out he didn't bother to check on her. just let her lay there until the elevator stopped and you know the rest.
