I truly am too. He is so out of his element. He is bad enough when he write for the Cowboys and sometimes the Mavericks. He is a pot stirring kind of writer and writes endless Romo click bait articles a year and it gets a lot of traffic to the site. He's trying to do the same garbage here with the Rangers, but he's so out of touch with baseball as a sport he makes zero sense in his ramblings.

I wish I knew who to write an email to st ESPN and ask them to honor Richard's memory by hiring a competent person to cover baseball on their blog.

This is the page it took me to when I clicked on "Contact Us" and followed to the ESPNDallas contact link.

Imagine that...they want us to email a radio station for what is posted on the ESPN website...that's sad. Real lack of accountability right there.

There is a pull down menu with choices of who you want your message to go to and "Editor" is one choice so hopefully it will get to the right person.

Under the subjects though it's only about the radio side of things...That's what worries me. I see no option for oversite. I clicked on the option to give you the email address and I tried to send an email to it. I got a failure notice in my inbox...I will continue to look for another email.

I went ahead and sent one from the feedback page to the editor anyway...

To whom it may concern,

While searching for an editor for ESPN Dallas this is the only email address I could find. As a fan of the Texas Rangers allow me to thank you for having such ample coverage the last few years as the team has risen great heights. I became a fan of the late Richard Durrett and cannot thank ESPN Dallas enough for introducing me to his work. I must say that his memory is being tarnished though from the current state of the Rangers Report on ESPN Dallas. Calvin Watkins has a fundamental lack of baseball knowledge and it's embarrassing to the website and an avid fan base. He struggles with basic baseball concepts and uses the same writing approach for baseball as he does when he writes for football. It's detrimental to growing the game in the area, because fans are given weak opinions and bad facts. I implore you to find a suitable replacement for Watkins. He is out of his element and the site would be better off having him focus strictly on football. Please don't let Richard's memory be sullied by mindless click baiting sports journalism.

Thank you from a passionate Dallas area sports fan,

They need to hire a baseball writer to replace Richard with and not call on guys who only know other sports to write about baseball. I was embarrassed for Calvin.
Thought Anthony Andros or some guy named Wills was to take over for Richard but it wasn't the case. This Wills seems to have disappeared from ESPN altogether.

Wills struggled with basic facts. He couldn't get the players names correct some days. He was truly awful...

I liked Todd Wills, but he did struggle some. He knew baseball though and would be much better than Calvin. Every time I see Wills name I am reminded of the time he first wrote his "Wash's Wisdom" column. Lainey and a couple of others had a fit because someone was actually going to point out Wash's decision making skills on a regular basis. It turned out that it wasn't nearly as negative as they thought it would be.

Calvin got the message I sent and has emailed me to defend himself.

I will never forget that stir Wills caused. A few people were totally convinced that Wills was trying to get wash fired and blame him for everything. It was a sad misunderstanding.

Do you mind sharing the body of those messages?

Here it is.

"I got you're email and I appreciate the comments.

Let's be clear I do understand the DL rules but this isn't about the rules. Darvish didn't need to get placed on the DL list.
What he needed to do was rest, miss two or three starts at the most. If he still feels bad then put him on the DL.
Now you could say, what's the difference between putting him on the DL and letting him wait?

Respect.

Believe me when I tell you very few people in the clubhouse are happy with Darvish choosing to go on the DL.

Most wanted Darvish to wait then go to the DL. This is about wanting to remain active for your team and letting them know you care about the season and not look for a way out by going to the DL.

Washington figures Darvish would return but didn't.

Once again, it's not about the DL rules, it's about earning respect from your teammates.

Look forward to communicating with you soon.

Take care,"

Bullshit...

What he's suggesting makes no fucking sense. Pitchers go on the DL all the time while they miss 3 starts. You don't just sit on your ass for 15 days as a pitcher. You go on the DL so the team can call up another arm...He is either lying or is dumb.

Thanks for sharing that bennie.

I tried telling him what he said didn't make any sense and he replied,

"The Rangers told Darvish he could miss one or two starts and they would either make a roster move to bring up a pitcher or go shorthanded until he was ready.

Darvish asked to go on the DL. What's funny is that Darvish apologized to Washington because he knew he messed up.

They've been shorthanded with him on the DL anyway, it didn't matter. They have just four starters now with Robbie Ross and Scott Baker filling in.

They need a starter for Friday and it could be Baker again.

You keep focusing on the DL, it's not about that. He asked to go and he shouldn't have. He needed to let the team make a decision for him.

Anyway we can agree to disagree.

Take it easy."

He obviously has no idea what he is talking about when he says they went shorthanded with him on the DL anyway. The last time I checked 25 guys are more than 24.

I tried telling him what he said didn't make any sense and he replied,

This is not just some disagreement...He's so far off...Wow..Thanks again for sharing those. He's totally clueless. What's sad is that there are people less clued in on baseball that will read this nonsense and form their own conclusions about Darvish as a player and person. It's not right and it's wholly infuriating as someone who has loved baseball their entire life.
