What do you feel is our weakest position group heading into the season? I was gonna go with LBers myself but the thing that has me most worried is our coaching staff. Outside of Tman (who I think is a amazing OC) I don't feel real good about any of our staff. LB group second. What say you.

Yeah I wish we still had Bob Babich (lb) and Darryl Drake (wr)

I'm with you on some of their coaches, though I like several of their guys: Kromer, Cavanaugh, Groh on the offensive side, and Hurtt, Hoke, Herring, and Pasqualoni on the defense. Not a Met Tucker fan (and I'm not sure anything could make me one).

JMSO, safety remains the weakest spot on the team, followed by LB since we don't know if any of the draft picks can play.

Safety #1. But with an injury or two, LB could certainly climb over.

I think it's tough to be jumping on the coaches at this point. DeCamillis is an easy target, but I don't see the same committment to getting STs players that we had under Angelo with Toub.

How about a SB win?? That might make me a Mel Tucker fan, in fact if our Bears make a nice little playoff run and the D performs competently, it would start to tilt the ole ship.

I agree also that Safety is my major concern. LB, even with injury can perform ok, I like the back ups almost as well as the starters save Briggs. Safety is a different matter entirely. I'm not sure I like anyone. Vareen is looking small out there, Mundy perhaps? Conte who has disappointed all of us over and over again... Wilson hasn't caught on. Just don't know. Just not a lot of confidence, probably among all of us, on this one.

Tucker has yet to prove anything, anywhere, as a D coach. DeCamillas(sp?) sucks too.

LB's are an unknown, but I really liked what I saw from Bostic last week. I have a feeling that he will supplant McClellin soon.

I think Mundy will be a good starter at safety. After that, God only knows.

Hell, the D-line is a bit of an unknown too, tho I think they will be ok. Lamaar Houston is the biggest key to that puzzle IMO. If he and Ratliff can dominate they should be ok.

I guess that makes the D as a whole a bit of an unknown?

Feels weird typing that. :pout:

I'm starting to think the depth on the Oline might be a very real concern. While I think they will all be/should be ok for the start of the season- If we loose one or two key guys we might be in trouble. Especially in the run game.

I think it's Tucker. As stated, he hasn't proven anything yet. He should prove (or disprove) himself this season. The Bears have just too much talent on D to be any worse that 15th or 16th ranked.

I'm not that concerned about the O line, both Britton and Ola can float the tackle spot and you have some Guard/Centers that can fill in. Keep in mind, if these guys were good enough to start in the NFL, they would be. Back ups are back ups for a reason, usually.

Gotta agree with Beardown and NEBearsFan. Mel Tucker and DeCamillas are the weak links.

I'm also really shocked how badly our Dline looks especially after all of the renovations we did....but again, it's preseason. Not really going to worry about our safeties too much until we get the front 7 up to par.

I couldn't agree more. I understand it is preseason, but damn!

Unit: STs.

Coach: DeCamillis.

Tucker hasn't played a hand yet, so it's too early to judge what he can do with a real NFL roster. The D's *supposed* to be vanilla at this point, especially with so many new faces and a new system in place. STs should be showing about what they have to show, and so far it's been embarrassing.

[?? did I miss something? It's vanilla preseason play. Dline looks great.

You must have because Denard Robinson rushed 6 times for 34 yards...

Again it's preseason and if Tucker is running a purely vanilla D maybe I can understand, but 5.7 yards per carry ain't good in my humble estimation.

Were not even using a game plan on defense yet or keying on anyone's RB. I see good pressure comming from the 4 down linemen and quick/short passes coming out. The Philly fan thought our Dline beasted their Oline. Well see a little more realistic D game plan tonight in the third game.

True. I hope your right.

It's tough to evaluate during these glorified practices.
