Headed down to catch the RR game tomorrow night. Hope to get a good look at Rua, Telis, Nicholas and whoever pitches tomorrow
We have about 60 million in payroll on the DL right now
Yeah, I was a huge fan of dealing for Stanton. I still covet him. I love the way he plays, and his swing is just damn impressive. I hope he doesn't get extended in Miami.
Because he would be wasted honestly. As long as Loria owns the team I want nothing but bad to happen to the franchise. He's a horrible owner and he abuses the system and defrauded tax payers. I hope for your sake he sells team asap. Now why would you say something like that. Stanton is all we've got, our one man wrecking crew. Why would you take that away.
I remember reading an article recently where they interviewed someone from the Braves (coach or former player, can't remember exactly) who knows Brian McCann very well. He said that he knew the minute McCann signed that contract he would struggle mightily in NY. He said that McCann's personality made him the absolute worst fit possible for NY out of any major leaguer he could think of. He said that McCann even once told him how he even knew himself that he wouldn't do as well in such a high profile high pressure northern atmosphere. This guy fully expected McCann to sign with Texas because he thought it was the perfect fit for such a laid-back southern guy. He was totally shocked when he heard he chose the Yankees.
It doesn't really totally account for his mediocre season, but it is interesting nonetheless that someone who is close to McCann predicted pre-season that he would struggle there.

I remember this article and you've recapped it well.
Why so many guys put themselves is such a no win situation on purpose, is just beyond me.
If I remember correctly, our BP coach, Ed Whitson, went to NYY for a brief period of time and hated is so much he almost broke down; mentally.
Money....

Yu Darvish, Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus of Texas Rangers cleared waivers - ESPN Dallas
Sure hope we are not considering trading Darvish or Beltre. Andrus and Choo I could deal with but I'm not sure why you would. Seems like both of their trade values would be pretty low at the moment.
Just a formality. 99% chance none of them get dealt. And I wouldn't want choo dealt anyways. Too many people ready to dump choo due to one mediocre season.
I wouldn't mind them trading Choo and it really has noting to do with this season. I have never been that big of a Choo fan to begin with. The main reason I would trade him is because he is at the age where the season he had this year will be common during the last 2-3 years of his contract anyway. They gave him too much money and too many years to begin with. The sooner they trade him the more value he would have because the lower performing back end of his contract is a lower percentage of his remaining contract if he gets traded now versus a couple of years from now.
Meh, I still think he's an all star player and key lead off man for at least 4 more years.
There are a lot of folks who would agree with you. I just hope JD can find a few GMs that feel that way and who would be willing to trade for him.
I can understand both points of view on Choo. But I may lean towards your way of thinking saddles. But we have ALL been wrong a time or two so if Choo remains a fixture I hope this was just an outlier of a season. 2011 was another season close to this but he missed about half the season that year.

between Rios and Choo i would rather say goodbye to Rios
