It's not a bad ranking, but I think there are some tweaks that could have been made that would have improved it. Maybe give a point or two for every winning season, but then subtract the same for every losing season. And it's pretty stupid that the AFL teams that joined the NFL don't get credit for the 60s, yet the Jets and Chiefs get credit for their Super Bowl wins that happened before they were "founded" (according to the list).

The fact that Cleveland is in the top 10 discredits this piece of shit right there.

Yeah it's much easier to pretend the Browns have never accomplished anything in the NFL.

How do we know which teams have been truly great, and which ones have been manipulated to greatness by powers that be?

I was surprised to see the Giants at #2 honestly.

The Vikings are right about where I thought they'd be. Younger folk don't realize how good they were back in the 70's... Just never put it together in the Super Bowl. Although if Drew Pearson didn't push Nate Wright down in the 1975 playoff game they might have had a shot that year, Bud Grant said he thinks that was their best team, they would have crushed the Rams in the NFCCG and had another shot at the Steelers and they would have ended up going to 4 straight.

No complaints from my team at number 9, especially with our recent bad years.

The Cardinals come in at #21, meaning ahead of 11 other teams, despite the fact that since their inception in 1920 they have had all of 8 playoff appearances.

Basically they are ahead of other teams that have done more mainly because 90+ years of football has yielded 12 Hall of Famers.

They should change the name of the list to "which franchises have been around the longest." It you truly want to know the all-time greatest, then they should have divided those numbers by the years that they were a franchise. THAT would tell you how great they are compared to newer franchises

That makes more sense to me too.

Lions been around since 1930... #17 so being around a long time is not true. Great in the 50's and completely sucked since.

Can't you say the same thing about the Packers?

Some consider "modern era" starting with the "The Greatest Game Ever Played" (NYG vs Baltimore Colts NFL championship in 1958).

Packers have 7 NFL championships (4 Super Bowl and 3 NFL championships) since then and 9 championship appearances (5 Super Bowl and 4 NFL championships).

Packers are tied for 4th with Super Bowl wins and tied for 6th with appearances in Super Bowl.

Not sure I would quite say "the same" about the Packers.

The eight league titles also supports their place on the All-time list.

It's actually 9 - 8 championships and one SB. Plus, the Bears are the oldest team in the NFL and Halas is the founder of the NFL.

Number 4 is about right. And to the butt-hurt Seahawk fan upset about their ranking... Fuck you.

Seahawk fans aren't upset about this. It means absolutely nothing.

And it always seems youre upset about something a Seahawk fan said. If I were you I wouldnt be calling anyone else butthurt.

Well I feel like I just have to ask...why exactly does the modern era start with a single game in 1958 and not the 1920's? And who are these "some" people who believe this?

Does anything beyond what is happening right now really matter? Surely no one is sitting on their coach saying....well we look like shit, but that's Ok because we won some time in the past? I think not.

IDK Harold.... I'm not willing to say that some fans dont do that.

If my team had only won one Super Bowl in their HISTORY, I'd probably cling to that too

seriously, it's an ALL TIME LIST. what's so difficult about understanding that? Of course teams that have had a lot of years are going to be ranked closer to the top, they've done more shit ALL TIME than a newer one. Longevity does mean something because there are quite a few teams that were around back then and aren't today. because your team won last year doesn't necessarily mean it did anything in the first 30 years of it's existence.

THings change over time. Rules change, teams change, coaches and players change, cities sometimes change. Some franchises have had success thru it all, some only for a short time, some haven't achieved shit in 50 years and some newcomers have won some big games. but it's an ALL TIME list. take a minute to think what that would entail before you get your panties wadded up.

It's a historical perspective on the league. It's no different than with running backs or WR's or QB's. Give me a great one that has done it for a long time, over the new guy that has one or two great seasons. It's easy to be great a time or two or a season or two. if your team hasn't had that opportunity to do that, well it doesn't mean they're shit, it means they aren't an "all time greatest" team. It's not like the lead in was "this all time list is to be used as a predictor of future success" was it? or did I miss something?

Every other team it traces their roots from city to city. Oakland - LA - Oakland Raiders, LA - St. Loius Rams, St. Louis - Arizona Cards.

Yet the Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, but the new Browns get the credit.
New name? Titans get credit for Oiler success, while the Texans get screwed...

Mostly a well put together list except for a few glaring errors.

...except the butt-hurt Seattle fan who posted earlier. So he can say something and I can't respond? Do you live in Ferguson, MO?

I suggest that if you find offense to my opinions then don't read my posts.
