He was 7-8 on a nice sunny day with no pass rush.... Those are passes he is supposed to complete dontcha think?? When he proves he can be more than an option QB, then you can thump your chest. Until then he is still not a franchise QB as far as Im concerned.

I wont disagree. BUt I am simply stating, that in practice... especially in 7-7 with no pass rush.. I would expect MOST QBs to look good.

Surely we aren't going to report and evaluate Robert's every move of training camp on a daily basis, are we? He's going to have good days and he's going to have bad.

Shark, personally I guess I'm confused on your glass half empty approach simply because, both RGIII and Shanahan made some poor decisions last year. Now if Rob had started the year healthy and we went 3-13, despite starting a joke of a secondary at S...and an unprepared ST coach...Then I'd understand your expectations much better. IMO you're microscope on this kid is as if he performed as poorly as Geno Smith. You put RGIII on the Jets, they would have probably lost the superbowl twice now in a row.

BTW, the Jets can die slow...I'm in no way saying the deserve a talent like RGIII.
Haillllll!

Also, I respect your opinions Shark.

Its easy dude... my take has always been this. We paid for Peyton Manning, and got a slightly upgraded Mike Vick with less mental issues but a bigger ego. I was fine with making a move up to get a QB... but I think we got the wrong guy. And to be honest, with the amount of talent we have on this team now outisde of QB, bobo the clown should be able to take this team to at least 8-8.

So in the end, he has to prove he is a franchise QB. And i admit I might be totally wrong about the kid. But Im not going to juggle his nuts simply because the Skins took it up the ass to get him in the first place. :)

You may be right - you may be wrong but you don't evaluate the guy after two years especially since they were at polar opposite ends of the spectrum. At this time he is not Manning, Vick or anyone else and correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that quite a few QBs were not totally developed by their second year.

BTW - can't speak for anyone else, but if I grade him high it will simply be because of what he does on the field not because of how he was acquired. I felt great about him in his first year & not so good last season. This season? Who knows & I certainly am not going to get excited about how he does in a preseason game let alone a practice. This should be one exciting & interesting season.

Drew Brees Stats - New Orleans Saints - ESPN

Hmmm... Brees didn't do well until his 4th season (& he was not simply on the bench during all of this time). I guess that he was a bum huh? Again - you cannot totally judge a QB until several years into his career.

I saw him as an option running style QB coming in. Nothing he did in year one changed that opinion. And last year went a long way towards fostering that belief. He lacked pocket presence, and his instincts were still to scramble and or run, more so than read the defense and pass the ball. Again that could change, and I could be dead wrong. But my real beef isnt if he can become a pocket passer at this point. Its the little shots he and the rest of the team continue to take at the coach thats gone. I detest people that try and shift the blame. And I see alot of that in Ashburn/Richmond. Hell even Allen has come out NOW and said RG3 should not have started the season. A total 180 from his stance this time last year.

Last time I checked.. no one gave up half a draft for Brees. If we had gotten him at #6 where we were, I would be fine with it.

it doesnt matter what you gave up for him . that wont change how long it takes to mature no matter who it is

and if i recall a young peyton manning certainly pointed fingers at his o/line during a loss to pittsburgh in a playoff game

right now we dont know what we have for sure . we can win with year one RG3 year 2 need s more work

i think his career path will look something like randel cunningham's

I agree. It doesn't make any difference what you gave up for him. That is water under the bridge. You can't hold what we spent on him against him. We spent that much because we needed a QB. Desperate people do desperate things.

Its also ridiculous to expect superman like results from this kid just because we spent the farm. At the end of the day, he is human, will make human mistakes, and will require development and training. We paid what we did for the potential, not the finished product at the time. Shark, you really need to let him have a developmental period before you judge his on the field performance. Right now, he is right on pace with many other of the QB greats. Please go look at the stats of the Mannings or Aikman or Favre, or Montana or most all. They sucked their first couple of years. In fact, he is probably ahead of most of them, given his first year performance.

Get over it already. It is water under the bridge. You can't undo the trade. As a Redskins fan I would hope that you just want what is best for the team & that includes hoping that RG3 does very well.

If he somehow fails will you take joy in saying "I told you so"? I hope you don't feel that way. I have always maintained that I only hope for what is best for the team. I have no burning desire to be right about these things & would gladly like to be wrong about everything if it means that the Redskins are doing very well.

Cmon - these guys are human & in this era the slightest thing is going to be blown out of proportion including Allen's comment. I am sure that he will backtrack somewhat - it is what it is & I am guessing that anyone on this board might make the same mistake if they had a microphone in their face 24x7.

I will bet you anything that players/coaches/GMs from previous eras said similar things (& much worse). However - you didn't hear about it since the media was different, and every fan didn't have a cell phone, Facebook acct or Twitter access. I would try not to worry so much about these type of comments & focus on what occurs on the field. As I have mentioned before - this season is make or break time for RG3 & several others. Can't wait to see them actual play instead of listening to the endless drivel from the media.

Socal... I will simply ask this. If it turns out IM wrong and RG3 does in fact become a complete "franchise" QB. How many I told you so's do you think I will have to deal with? HOw much pressure to admit I was wrong?? Hell for two years from the moment we made the trade I have been told how wrong and stupid I was for having my own opinion about the player and the trade.

In light of that, if I turn out to be right.. .would you seriously begrudge me an I told you so?? Because if I turn out to be wrong, I will likely never hear the end of it.
