Yeah, Reggie was fun to watch and I loved the back and forth between him and Spike Lee during those epic Knicks/Pacers series. But I was a bit surprised that he made the HOF.

What about Richmond?

How do you see his career vs. Reggie's?

Did you see Worthy play? He had some of the best post moves in history and was unbelievably quick.

I've said Magic was the best basketball player I've ever watched so yes I've seen Worthy play. Why the fuck is that the "have you seen him play" response such a big thing here? Worthy was pretty good athletically. Durant is more athletic then him. Worthy can't do all the things that Durant can do. Durant can do all the things Worthy did and in most cases better then Worthy did.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Worthy. As for the other, there are some younger folks on here who make statements on players they haven't seen play. I missed where you said Magic was the best you've ever seen play.

Absolutely. Durant has skills that translate to any era. Athletically those 3 guys wouldn't be able to keep up with Durant.

But Miller didn't play against those guys in his prime did he? Miller's prime consisted of the Bulls and Knicks. So don't see the comparison.

Did you actually watch the NBA in the 80's? The games were track meets. Defense was an afterthought (until the Bad Boys came along). The Lakers and Nuggets typically led the league in scoring, averaging just south of 120 pts per game. So, Durant might have been able to keep up with them.

He would have been a superstar had he gone to any other team. Still made the HoF, though.

How bout this. If Nique was drafted by the Lakers instead of Worthy how good a player would Worthy have been on the Hawks? Is he still a HOF'er?

Lebron = Pippen
In more ways than most people will ever admit. Lebron is the more talented athlete and the better offensive player, but past that they are nearly identical. They are both amazingly talented all-around players from the SF position that really have very few flaws in their game.

Pippen just does not get much credit because he had MJ playing alongside him. Pippen though in the 1 and a half seasons without Jordan was by far the star of the team. He even nearly carried them to the Conference Finals the year after Jordan left.

22.0 Pts, 8.7 Reb, 5.6 Ast, 2.9 Stl, 0.8 Blk, .491 FG%
That was from the 93-94 Season when he did not have Jordan. Pippen was the star and they finished 55-27. This was during Pippens 7th season and at 28 years old.

Lebron's 7th season and last in Cleveland
29.7 Pts, 7.3 Reb, 8.6 Ast, 1.6 Stl, 1.0 Blk, .503 FG%

Lebron at 28, Heat won the Finals this year
26.8 Pts, 8.0 Reb, 7.3 Ast, 1.7 Stl, 0.9 Blk, .565 FG%

Clearly Lebron is a more efficient scorer and puts up more points a game, but Scottie was only the focal point of a team for 2 years. There is a reason those Bulls teams won 6 titles. They basically had Kobe and Lebron in there primes playing on the same team.

Obviously Jordan>Bryant and Lebron>Pippen, but it's not by some huge margin. The Bulls had two of the most talented players the game will ever see, and once Jordan came back and they added one of the greatest low post defenders and rebounders the game has ever had to that combination they went 72-10.

Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lebron, Wade, and Bosh. There is simply no arguing that the Heats Big Three are a bit overrated compared to other star player combinations we have seen over the years. Magic, Kareem, and Worthy were pretty good themselves in the 80's. I'd say Allen, Garnett, and Pierce for a few years there were likely better as well simply because they meshed together on the floor in a more efficient way.

MJ and Pippen had 3 rings before Rodman came in. All around Rodman is not the player bosh is but he is better defensively thats it.

MJ and Pippen grew together from the beginning so its hard to really make the comparison to the Heat players big 3.

So if defense is an afterthought(which I don't buy) how does Durant not keep up with them?

So, according to your logic....

Dirk, > Duncan because he scored more points?

Antawn Jamison > Kevin McHale

Not even the same argument. Duncan is a significantly better defender, rebounder and passer than Dirk ever was. McHale was a much better option defensively than Jamison and also was far more efficient.

Look I don't know what your basis of Reggie being better than KD is, but please come with something other than "competition"

KD averages 50% MORE points per game than reggie. More than double the rebounds and is a much better defender.

Your argument is incredibly weak and you've yet to make any valid point other than just outright dismissal of data.

Absolutely. 'Nique would have the rings though. Worthy on any other team is still an HOF'er. Remember who else was on his team and imagine what he could have done as a #1 option.

Remember, he was on a team that had Magic and Kareem and he was still able to grab a finals MVP.

Walton?

No.

Even my UCLA homerism has bounds.

I give him his first few years with the Blazers.

He was a beats pre-injury.

But, He was a role player for the Celtics.

Career #'s of 13 and 10 are good.

But, not HoF worthy imo...

He is the poster child for making it based on his College years.
He may have been a role player for Boston but was the man in Portland before injuries.

Reggie's first 3 yrs at UCLA
5pts 1 rebound 1 assist
15-4-3
26-5-2

Walton avg. after 3 seasons for UCLA...... 20pts 16 rebounds.

Reggie's better, imo.

Agreed.

Mitch got in too this year, I believe.

But, I understand your, and others ,sentiment on Reggie.

It's called the HoF not the Hall of very good.

Still don't think he's the worst guy to have made it in.

I'm still sticking with Walton.

I didn't say he wouldn't. I said he might. I was being flippant. Of course he could keep up. But to imply the opposite is ludicrous.

And read up a little on your NBA history regarding the 80's and defense.

We can count Kobe's bad playoff series on 1 maybe 2 hands.
We can count Lebron's solid playoff series on 1 maybe 2 hands.

That's a pretty big difference, and I'm talking about series they did little to effect the outcome in. I don't care if they put up good numbers because stats mean little as I have already pointed out. Lebron had a 31 points in Game 6 this year in one of the greatest disappearing acts you will ever see. Lebron vs Orlando and Lebron vs Pistons, and Lebron vs Celtics (sorry forget the years) are really the only series in his career he looked like the star he should be.
