Should have been a poll. Bet it would be sitting close to 50/50.

Dominique (and many, many others) > Lebron

You guys have probably never even heard of 'Nique if you really think Lebron is the best SF ever. :L

That was just the most recent example that Kinzu gave. Lebron also disappeared vs. Dallas in the 1st finals that the big 3 were in and he did it in pretty much every 4th quarter of that series.

Do you not remember all of those Lebron jokes? Why do you not ask Lebron for change for a dollar? Because he'll only give you 3 quarters.

Lebron is a great player, no doubt. But he has an easily traceable history of disappearing late in big games.

Also, just because there was nothing Lebron could do to prevent the inevitable, he still didn't "fire all of his bullets". MJ and Kobe have lost playoff series and Kobe's lost a couple of finals series, but neither of them went down without firing every bullet they had and then throwing the gun at them.

That's pretty much exactly how I see it as well. I'd take a 29 year old Kobe over a 29 year old Lebron just because Kobe has a unique drive to win that you can't coach. I don't think there is a big difference in them from a talent stand point. Kobe is a clearly a more dangerous offensive threat because he had more developed skills at that point in his career, but Lebron is the bigger player with the same athletic ability. I'd say Lebron is a better passer, rebounder, and defender since he can cover pretty much any position.

Kobe's drive to win and leadership though just put him a different category for me. I'd rather have that on my team and in my locker room than what Lebron offers. It's not always about what you can offer team on the court or even how talented you are on the court. If you want to win titles it helps to have a guy like Kobe on the team that can push teammates to give more effort and do it by leading through example.

If memory serves, the Celtics used to have a pretty good SF by the name of Larry something or other. I'd bet that a pretty solid case could be made for that guy too.

All Nique did was dunk and score. How many playoff series has Nique won?(Won't even bother with the MVP's)

Bird used to be the best SF. I personally think Lebron has passed him. Even if people think Bird is better now by the time Bron's career is over there should be little doubt who had the better career. Bird's was too short. If Lebron wins a 3rd championship(especially in Cle) then it's won't even be a worthy debate.

Yeah, I love that drive to win too.

Taking off my "purple and gold colored glasses" and looking at it as a GM or coach. If I'm starting a team, I'm taking Lebron. He's does so many things well and is such a great team player that he's who I'd want to start my team.

If I have to win a playoff or championship series, I want Kobe. I want the guy who'd knock his grandma down to win that title.

Lebron is a great player. Supremely talented. He can take over games at will. So why doesn't he do that on a more regular basis? There are times when being a "team player" has to take a back seat to getting a critical win.

Someone posted that Lebron can also take over games in ways that Kobe never could. This is patently false. Kobe in his prime had a great inside game. His ability to penetrate was without equal. Kobe has made 11 first or second All-defensive teams. Lebron is at 6 and counting.

Kobe did/does indeed posess a killer instinct, or mindset, if you will.

Kobe all the way for me.

I think Lebron is close, but at this point in his career, I put Larry above Lebron. Athletically, there's no comparison. Lebron is the better athlete and it's not even close to close. But Larry had that drive that Lebron lacks, was a better leader and a smarter player than Lebron is.

Lebron has plenty of time to catch and pass him, but if Lebron retired today, I'd give the edge to Bird.

If Kobe and Lebron were both 21 yrs old, and I'm starting a team, it would be a very tough choice. Lebron would not be the clear favorite for me.
