"As for the Galloway column, I've learned to not believe a thing the guy says. Plus, He's a Nolan guy...what else is he supposed to say? "

I've kinda grown tired of Galloway myself. I'm just not sure how being a "Nolan Guy" means this is made up. I'm all for giving Nolan his dues as more than a figure head to the greatness of JD. I think for JD to be considered all that in baseball circles, he'll have to do better than year one without Nolan. I think JD misjudged the Cruz value cause his eye was on Choo from the start. I think he rolled the dice with Harrison, Lewis and a second year pitcher in Perez with little to no contingency plan. Holland goes down and the starting pitching went with it.

Don't get me wrong....JD's decisions aren't the only reason this team became bottom 10 in 3 short months. It's been a group effort from the players to the coaches. Nobody saw prince going down. Nobody expected the injuries. I don't see anyone other than beltre is playing to expectation and he's had defensive lapse's and long period of time with little power. Group effort AND JD sits as front and center as anyone to me.
Agree about rolling the dice with Harrison and Lewis. He had to have on blinders to expect those surgeries to allow them to come back fit and fiddle.

Always thought that. Hoped for the best with Harrison but expected the worst. And that's what we got.

Verlander is getting lit up again. With his struggles I don't see how they will let Scherzer get away, unless Max absolutely wants to hit FA.

One of the things that Galloway wrote about is that technically there is just one key piece missing on offense and that was Fielder. He said Profar is not a key piece and the catching tandem has more than made up for Soto. So he may be correct in that our offense would have been an issue anyway. And a lot of us on this board have started to feel that way as well in thinking our offense has issues going into next year.

Hate to illicit Nightcrawler here, but we seem to expect a certain amount from Moreland that we just didn't get. I would not like to think we didn't go after Cruz more because we had Mitch on the team.

Glad his best pitch is a curveball. Especially since he has had no control of it yet.

Do we have anybody at all to replace Irwin? Or are we stuck with a sacrificial lamb tonight?

On the positive side for Lewis, he has gone 6+ innings in his last 3 starts, with a 3.92 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP and zero walks with 21 Ks

Hopefully he can continue giving us that going forward
