This line-up is pathetic. I didn't think it would be as great as a lot of experts did because I thought the bottom of the order was bad, but I thought it would be better than this. The way this team is right now is eerily similar to last year. We don't put up consistent runs, poor base-running, and poor fielding. We aren't hitting HR's, or stringing hits together. This team is frustrating.

It's a 3 game loosing streak… they are going to happen in a 162 game season. The offense is still one of the top offenses in the league despite not hitting as many HRs, all the injuries, and Fielder's struggles. The AL is wide open right now, no teams really have emerged so far as elite but the Rangers are up near the top. So, am pretty happy considering all the injuries that keep on coming. Losing is frustrating but this team is doing well considering everything.

They aren't one of the top offenses. They are middle of the pack. You are right though that nobody has emerged, but I'm seeing a lot of similarities in last years team.

But hey, Fielder hit the ball to the left side and got a hit. Things must be turning around

* Losing, not loosing. Sorry that one just bothers me.

Top 9 in runs and top 4 in both BA and OBP. I consider that a top offense. I mean even if you just consider runs, they are in the top 30%.

Sorry about the spelling mistake... I don't notice them as much when I post from my phone.

Yeah, he will need to go after them and needs to through strikes. Can't give up a ton of walks like he has been prone to at times this season. I still think he gives us a good shot though. Chavez is beatable- gave up 4 runs to the Astros in his last outing and will likely not go more than 6 innings.

Robbie will have to keep the ball down and get ground ball outs against this team, oh and I'm not sure the Rangers can score 4 right now

How is it Oakland is full of disciplined hitters where we have to find them in free agency, trade? Such as Choo and Fielder. Just a thought late at night.

Fielder saw all of 10 pitches in 4 AB last night. This is not disciplined. Right now, see seems to be little to come around. This is his worst start ever.

Choo on the other hand is a machine. In 1 official AB last night he saw 21 pitches, with one hit and two walks.

I'm going out tonight, and sure hope I don't see a repeat of last nights debacle.

8 of Oakland's 9 runs with 2 outs

I did not realize that. This is impressive; even though I can't stand the sight of their uniforms.

I know we haven't hit many HR this season, but it does seem we've hit an inordinate amount of balls off or near the top of the wall. Seems like I've seen 5 shots within 2 ft of being out.

This on the A's pitching:

Oakland Athletics pitcher A.J. Griffin will need Tommy John surgery to repair his injured pitching elbow and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Tuesday.
Griffin has not pitched this season after experiencing elbow discomfort during spring training and had been diagnosed with flexor tendinitis. He will be the second A’s starter to be out for the season due to the surgery. Last month, Jarrod Parker, who won 12 games last season, had Tommy John surgery for the second time.

I was only looking at the AL because the NL doesn't have a DH, so I don't really use them to compare. Either way they're underachieving IMO, but it's early. 2,3,4 have got to start producing.

We're 6th in the AL in runs with 5 teams within 10 runs of us. So I still say we're middle of the pack. The teams in front of us have quite a bit more.

Honestly, the most meaningful way to look at runs is to normalize them with number of games played or look at R/GP. If you do this that would actually move 3 to 4 teams ahead of us as well. I agree that we need more production from the middle of the lineup but things could still be a lot worse. We are also 3rd in the AL in BA and OBP. If those numbers hold steady... more runs will follow.

Not me. I'm headed out in the general direction around 5 PM and see what tickets I can get outside.

Not much to say during this dead time waiting for the game. Just hope we can at least win one game in this series.

Hope you find some good seats for cheap and bring us some good luck. Have fun!

I'm going to the game vs the sox in the next few weeks on a Saturday... ticket prices were ridiculous.
