Oh, yeah you are probably right… I would still say he as backed it up pretty good IMO. You want him to be able to beat the A's since they are in the division but his overall body of work has been very solid thus far. I still would like to see him get deeper into games though but his pitch count generally gets up early as a SO pitcher.

Sorry there. I meant to say Yu there and not you. One too many beverages maybe. :yahoo:

And don't get me wrong about Yu. I'm very, very pleased with him to date. But he's got to figure it out against the A's, and for me it is really that simple. It's tough to be a # 1 pitcher when you can't win against your teams chief rival.

And as of right now, they're in his head IMO.

It seems for years the A's have had this approach of making a pitcher really work and they are able to incorporate it into most of their players regardless if players come and go. Not sure why other teams including the Rangers have a hard time with this approach. Now it will not work for every pitcher. Someone mentioned Cliff Lee had success with them and if that is true it is because he throw strikes and you take a couple of pitches you may be in an 0-2 hole.

Total wildcard and unknown and we had already acquired Fielder, plus I think he's already 27

He got a pretty rich deal from the ChiSox for being an unknown and a bit on the old side and having never faced ML pitching, a lot of people were wary of this guy due to the issues of Cuban hitters making the transition to the majors

Working out real well for the ChiSox so far though, he's certainly surprised me so far, and I'm willing to say I may have been wrong on him thus far, but its a long season, lets see if pitchers adjust

I agree with ya. And it's not fair or prudent to even bring up "why didn't the Rangers sign him" after he's had a monster month. And when one monster month is the sample size, it doesn't hold too much water.

He got a terrific deal from the White Sox, they were willing to go out on the limb, and so be it. We'll see if this is a good signing or not over the next several seasons, and not before. Long way to the judgement finish line.

Tepesch and Gallo named players of the week, in the minors. Second time for Gallo.

Gallo seems to have made some improvements this year for sure. But he still K's an awful lot. Most big bats do K a lot though, so if he can maybe move up to AA and show growth there as well, we should be very encouraged about his future here.

I'm happy for Tepesch too. His time will come.

I agree, it will be interesting to see how Gall progresses. I was impressed by Ron Guzman during spring training also. Hope he keeps getting better.

It's going to be interesting to not only see if Gallo can move up in competition and still hit dingers, but also see what position he'll play.

There's been a lot written about him not making it at 3rd, and 1st may be his natural spot. Might be worth watching over the next 12 months or so.

I was intrigued because of his power potential, but I didn't think he would cost as much as he did when I said the Rangers should be interested.

Here's hoping they scratch across a couple runs for Perez tonight.

If we can all remind ourselves that about 2-3 weeks ago we were saying if we can just hang in there until we get healthy then we should be in good shape. Well, we are hanging in there pretty stinking well. In time we hope to see Choo, Andrus, Kouzmanoff (why not-but 3-4-5-6 can be a mixed bag), Beltre, Fielder, Rios, Martin, Soto, Profar with Moreland, Chirinos, Wilson and ???. Starting Darvish, Perez, Lewis, Holland, Harrison (try to line up lefties for Oakland) and Soria, Frasor, Ross, Scheppers, Ogando, Cotts, Poreda and one or two others.

Fielder in the clean up spot. Let's hope it was something mental being in the 3rd spot. All it takes is a few hits tonight in the clean up spot to take the pressure off.

And Chirinos with Soto

I honestly think the difference between Soto and Chirinos will be minimal on offense... still expect Soto to be better defensively though but Chirinos has improved a lot.

We need 1 out of the next 2. Can't allow Oakland to sweep in our own park. I'll agree that the team is doing good up to this point if they get 1 out of 2.

Scratch Kouzmanoff off your list.
