one of the saddest things to do is lurk on the Raider forum and read these fan's delusions of hope.

30+ year a Raider fan and your ready to move on?

I'm calling BULLSHIT on this feeble attempt to get some attention. I suggest ya load in some old highlights and relive the "glory days" and exactly why you became a Raiderette fan.

You have pirate blood running thru yer body, own up and hug your "inner child" today I say. Stay on board, grab a paddle or bucket, get to rowing or bailing and STFU!

wink...wink

Because you're a front-running douche if you abandon a team just because they're not winning all the time?

I have been a Vikings fan for 45 years now, seen every SB ever played. Watched with horror as the Vikes of lore went down in each and every SB they ever attended. Did I bail the ship when the going got tough? Hell no! I've lived thru worse, 28 consecutive losing seasons by my beloved Beavers toughened my skin. My 2nd fav NFL team IS the Raiders and I have seen a ton of good teams come out of Oakland. They always picked up players who on their way out of the league or problem childs discarded from other clubs. Al had a way in his years to put it all together Been awhile since Gruden left, but that's no reason to jump off the bandwagon, silver-n-black is running thru your veins, always will.

You believe in Squatches today, how the hell can't you still believe in the Raiders anymore? The ghosts of Stabler, Lamonica and Plunkett. What's a few decades of trying to find their way back to the "Glory Hole" days? You have waited this long, put on your big boy pants and wait a few more.

"The Mad Bomber" may have just landed in the Bay Area this year. It's what Al was always waiting for.

Great post! Reminds me of when Bluto so poignantly asked whether we gave up when the Germans bombed Pearl Habor!

lol. Like I have mentioned countless times it isnt about the wins and losses.

Don't you think if that were the case I would have ditched Oakland Raiders earlier than this.

They are an embarrassment and the laughing stock of the 4 primary sports leagues.

Mamba = front runner who is a Blazer, A's, Raider, and Duck fan...:noidea:

if I were suddenly a Seahawk, Pats, RedSox, Giants, Heat, Bama, FSU fan I would buy that.

wallace, how long must i do this? I have been doing that for 25 years man.

If they weren't the dumbest franchise in all of sports for nearly 15 years I could come up with a plausible reason to continue to bleed black and silver.

I have autographs of all the Raider greats. had dinner with Biletnikoff. Met and talked with Allen, Plunkett, Howie, and many other Raider legends.

This current franchise isnt that franchise any more.

and if I did decide to ultimately end my ties with the Raiders I wouldn't have any NFL teams as a favorite.

I would just be an NFL fan I suppose. No way I could choose a new team. I could root for teams to lose. But thats about it.

That is not a front runner. That is a Raider fan who has invested way too much time and even more money into an inferior product..... Whom has grown tired of rooting for a laughing stock.

Like all teams in the NFL, they are trying to find their way in an era of salary caps and free agency. One always has to be patient. Like in Geology, time and pressure, has it's way of working things out.

I just can't see you flying another team flag on this forum. Don't disappoint me either. It would hurt your street cred brudda.

Bronco fan?
Charger fan?
Chief fan?

Gawd that would be ugly to see, but funny as hell.

Loyalty that needs a reason is not loyalty.

Your dog isn't loyal to you because you're always good, never make mistakes, make all the right decisions, give it whatever it wants, whenever it wants.

Part of being loyal to a franchise is also being able to call that franchise out when things are disappointing. Kinda like part of being patriotic is voicing your complaints when the country isn't going in the direction you think is best...but you remain loyal.

If you feel somehow betrayed, personally, by the organization, then by all means sever ties. But keep in mind they have no idea who the hell you are, so it's not like they're sitting there across the Bay going, "how can we totally screw over Jared from Eugene today?"

I am from Portland, and they do miss the 10s of thousands of dollars my family used to spend on tix for 20 years.

They know who I am and do care greatly about getting my loyalty and money back. As evident in the phone calls, emails, and letters I get a few times a year.

66K...You could hit the road and become a Texan fan by going down Route 66. Could be a "calling" here.

IF you change team loyalty here, please do it outside the AFC West. Nothing worse than a traitor in your own division.

Let me just say I learned to read by Dad and I pouring over the Sports page every morning. I have, for all of my life that I can remember ate, slept, and breathed sports.

The Ducks in the early Brooks era.... Oregon hasn't been a team that was in the National spot light until quite recently. Always found pride in our rivalries with the West Coast teams.

Blazers never a real reason to doubt my fandom. They aren't historically great. But the majority of my life they have been a good brand of basketball minus the jailblazer era.

A's. Love them through and through. In today's MLB they are the picture of the overachiever.

Now, the Raiders. My first true love in any sport. 1981 SuperBowl is the first football game I can remember watching. My family are all Raider fans and I an Oregonian former half season tix holder. However, the franchise is such an absolute joke in so many ways that I don't even need to touch on. The glory days of this franchise have passed decades ago minus the Gannon teams. The team goes through HCs over the last decade so that it is an embarrassment. From AL Davis' overhead projector presentation about Kiffin in a world where that was 20 year old technology. Mark Davis.... WTF? and of course, the fact ?my team? Playing on a baseball field.

The reasons to drop the Raiders like a bad habit are overwhelming. I can't stand the team that I grew up obsessing over. I am trying to find reasons to still follow them. But I can't even watch a game without getting mad and or queasy. This like I said, coming from a former season tix holder and Sunday ticket subscriber.

The NFL has become a chore for me to follow. I never thought that would be the case, but it is and I hate that I feel that way. It isn't even the fact that the Raiders are underachieving in the W/L columns. It is that they continue to be a complete joke and the laughing stock of the NFL. That is the reality. And not just for a couple years. This has gone on seemingly since Gannon left the field injured.

Sorry Raider Nation, you probably could care less and don't need this kind of fan anyways. Just trying to decide what the hell to do.

Is there one good reason to be loyal to a franchise such as the Raiders? I ask the NFL fans your honest opinion.

:noidea: but maybe you can get some ideas from browns fans as to why you should stick with the raiders..they share your pain
