Personally, I'll take Ladanian Tomlinson over all of them. He rushed for over 2000, set TD records, set receiving records, and was the best blocking back in the NFL.

plus one on LT. There have been a lot of great backs. I used even used to hate watching Riggins play over my Cowboys when I was a little boy

He didn't do it on the field, yes he's a POS murderer but that doesn't take away what he did on the field.

I am a huge fan of Tomlinson but he's not the best back of all time and what receiving records does he have?

I will never understand why people think Jim Brown is the GOAT, he weighed as much as some defensive tackles when he played. It seems like it would be easier to be a running back when the linebackers trying to tackle you weighed 20 to 40 pounds less that you do. Also look at what the Browns running game did when he retired 1966 Leroy Kelly went for 1141 yards and 15 TD's sporting a 5.5 yards per carry, hardly missed him if ya axe me.

Imagine if Adrian Peterson weighed 300 pounds and was still as quick and fast, he would be destroying people much like Brown did in his day. Actually he destroys people now at 215 pounds...

I believe he was the first RB to have 100 receptions in a season.

What is it that makes him not the best of all-time? What did he do that wasn't better than everybody else in the league when he played?

Riggins would be nothing in today's game. Riggins was a big boy but no bigger and definitely not faster than any player today.

I believe if you are talking about all time greats, you can only go by how dominant they were against the people they played. 50 years from know, there are gonna be LBJ type 6'10 freaks playing WR and running 4.4. Kids are just bigger and stronger now, but 20 years ago, people said the same thing. Jim Brown in Football and Wilt in Hoops were the two most dominant guys ever, if you go by what they did in their era. If you go by sheer, line them up as they are, you're boy Walter couldn't carry AP's jockstrap today. Walter was going against 215 lb lb's he could run over or outrun, not 250 lb kids that can spot him 5 yards and still catch him

Larry Centers 101 in 1995.

Marshall Faulk was a better receiver out of the backfield.

Walter Payton played with no talent around him was a better blocker and had the best stiff arm in league history.

Nobody in the league that weighs 250 is catching AD.

You argue Jim Brown was the best despite what I said about his size then bash Walter for running over LB's who weighed more than him?

Fair point on Centers but considering LT did that plus run the ball all over the field, I do take that into consideration.

I loved Faulk. He was an incredible receiver out of the backfield and I believe he paved the way for LT in that regard. Who was better is a matter of opinion. Faulk played longer, was more injury prone, and didn't put up quite the stats of LT>

Don't get me wrong LT is probably in my top 10 favorite players of all time I just don't think he was the best of all time.

Faulk 12 seasons 12,279 yards rushing 100 rushing TD's 767 receptions 6,875 yards receiving 36 receiving TD's

Tomlinson 11 seasons 13,684 yards 145 rushing TD's 624 receptions 4,772 yards receiving 17 receiving TD's

Faulk also was not always his teams #1 option, he had Hall of Famers Isaac Bruce and Tory Holt to share the ball with, LT didn't really have that.

Faulk did put up the numbers LT did matter of fact he had more yards from scrimmage.

I don't believe LT was hands down the best RB of his day. There is no doubt Walter Payton was the best back in his day and remains the best of all time IMO.

But it's just my opinion and I don't like to try and prove other peoples opinions are wrong, but I have been lucky enough to see everyone of these guys play (aside from Jim Brown) and it's easy for me to say Walter was the best I ever seen. And remember i'm a Vikings fan who has always hated the Bears.

I think you can back farther to guys like Roger Craig and Rickey Young.

I said it wrong or you misunderstood. AP ran a 4.38 as a rookie, nobody at 250 catches him. I was talking about Walter. He ran 4.62 as a rookie, and it only went down from there as he got older. Even at 4.6, there's plenty of college kids in this draft at 250(260, 270...) that could outrun him. That's why I say you have to judge greatness of a player against the men they played against.
