Again, I don't disagree with you, but let's not make any misjudgments that, there will be some who will indeed make this connection just as Skin'EmAll did when he posted. His post gave me a reason to ponder the possible reaction(s) to this team drafting Sam. I wouldn't mind them drafting him for the correct reasons either, but wonder if the PR story would take on a life of its own negating the football related reasons.

IM sure that no matter what, this thing will take on a life of its own. But Im hoping if we do draft him, its for sound football reasons is all. I could care les who he is boinking or being boinked by. If he plays like Bobby Boucher Im all for it. :)

Interesting comment.........but I am convinced that he comes to DC because of the whole name change thing. Daniel Snyder is no fool when it come to protecting his dying brand, so although I am not among those who often blames him for the misfortunes on the field, selecting or signing Sam just might be the ticket that helps convince some that keeping the name, just like signing the player gives credibility to nobler intentions. (barring getting picked by SD as the rumors go)

enough of the TV CSI BS . forget the grassy knoll stuff too and the apollo 18 nonsense too

if we take the kid it will because he can help the team

Skinsdad, you seriously believe in the inherent goodness of man and disavow the concept that men do things for their own selfish motives dont you?? While i agree that first and foremost the team wont take this kid unless there is a valid football reason for us to take him. I dont put it above the Danny to drop the hint that we make a pick or move for PR reasons. I dont put it above any man (or woman for that matter) to make decisions based on how the move will be seen more so than how useful the move might actually be. And I dont think dan of all people is above making a move to try and win over a fan base or a portion of a new potential fan base.

you guys have ulterior motives for every person walking on this planet that is what i disavow

you guys have a cynical outlook on life period . in my walk of life i find many many more people who are good , honest , hard working people who could give 2 shits about "whats in it for me "

i think you guys watch too much TV

we cant have a discussion on this board without some kind of behind the closed doors intrigues going on

i take people for who they are until proven otherwise period . sure i get burned but the rewards have far outweighed the bad

dan snyder doesnt need the PR move

the redskins name change thing is a media driven story and only a few people are serious about it

i dont care how many letters the same 2 politicians write in an election year its the same 2 people who wrote the same crap before and guess what ? nothing happened

If he comes here, I hope he's all-pro.

If he goes elsewhere, I hope he sucks.

Looking a little deeper into this, Sam made a brilliant move in some respects. He might have been on every teams draft board at some level. But now every scout in the NFL will be looking at him in the combine. While he will likely slide down some teams draft boards because he came out, with a closer look and the scrutiny teams will place on his actual ability, Im willing to bet he creeps up a couple of draft boards as well. I had him as a 3rd or 4th rounder only because of his size and not being a good fit as a starter in a 3-4 as an OLB starter. But for every team that drops him down a round, I think a few more will pay closer attention and might just rate him a bit higher despite his life style choice.

This is a very interesting comment in that it embodies both a generic and personal perspective on a subject that has swept the nation and loaded baited breaths awaiting its ultimate reaction.

Ulterior motives?? Really?? to suggest that this is beyond the norm is and exercise in delusion. It does not as you've done say anything about neither of us as it does our clear view of those who react negatively, take advantage of, or embrace differences in the world today.

How does one get to cynicism in a world full of it? There are no doubts that many attempt to be good , honest , hard working people. Although that sort of judgment in regards to them relies on a heavy dose of perspective without actual proof, I hope that you will allow that topics that elicit base/visceral reactions from as widespread an audience as this topic has........that even these people might surprise you in their cynicism, skepticism, and want to see intrigue because that is the human condition.

I see NO connection between watching TV (something that I moderately do) and being acutely aware of human strengths, weaknesses, or ability to have both outside of the fact that TV reinforces that truth.

Please excuse me if I'm mistaken, but is it not true that Dan Snyder built his fortune in PR? Here's where I'll agree with you..........Dan Snyder does not need a PR move...........there I've said it!! It does not mean that a man who has a history of PR efforts will not rely on another when it presents itself. There's nothing cynical or reliant on some sort of closed door intrigue in this statement...........the NFL relies on PR in its efforts to present an acceptable product, you wouldn't argue that Mr. Snyder who excels at the practice does not would you??

My mom is 100% Seminole.........go back and read as many of my responses as you wish, you will see that I do not use the team name in my posts. No one in my family use that name even when we crack on one another. Here we are talking about a gay man and I'll venture to say that most of the general public will state their tolerance of that lifestyle..........publicly!!! So here is a question and a test for you or anyone reading this. When talking about this subject ( team name) why is it that people rely on Native American(s) instead of that name in their comments.

evidently you dont understand what i mean not everything in life involves some back door intrigue some people are exactly what they are

the watching the TV stuff etc is mostly about on going debates about who rg3 dines with and what film is watched

stymie , if the team name offends you then why support it ? why give your money , heart or time to something you find repugnant

if the skins change their name i will find another team to follow . why ? because the redskins team history and nostaglia go out the window . everything will be new it wont be the team i grew up and loved

much like the bullets when they changed to wizzards because of political correctness i dumped the wizzards because my values wont allow me to allow PC to win out

i dont believe a group of guilty white people have the right to tell me how i should think

there has been lots of literature on the origin of the redskins name and what it was supposed to represent

most people have no issue with the redskins name regardless of race so i believe its manufactured

you reject the above statements which is your right

i am telling you that you are wasting your time with me on this matter i am not going to change my outlook on people or the name of the redskins

i dont care if i have 50 0000000000000 of you come over here and tell me how i am wrong to see the good in people and give them the benefit of the doubt . i will live my life as i see fit

being cynical doesnt make you smarter . it just makes you miserable

Skinsdad, when did I ever say it made me smarter or right all the time?? Truth is MOST people are not decent. Most people have some kind of skeleton in their closet. I dont believe some one has good intentions until I actually see their acts and deeds. Hell even your belief that people in general are decent is a form of self gratification. Because it makes you feel better to think of people in general that way, and to think of the world as what it actually is would likely be depressing. And I wont begrudge you your belief in mankind, but please dont go on a tangent and proclaim us cynics as miserable people because we choose to not live as you do.

I have become a cynic and it's well-deserved. People have not earned the right to be considered good. Do we do predominately good things? Absolutely.

That being said, if we see a way to get ahead, and it only hurts others a little...we take it.

If somebody paid you one million dollars, would you drive through Harlem screaming "I hate (N WORD)?"

If somebody paid you one million dollars, would a black guy drive through a predominately white neighborhood screaming "I hate white people?"

The answer to both is probably yes even if you don't mean the words. Everything we do is for personal gain.

you dont have to directly say it shark , you talk around it you are already talking about how i believe most people are decent arent because "they have a skeleton " in their closet . who said people were perfect ? i said most are decent not perfect .

i dont beleive people have bad intentions until I SEE IT , how many times am i mocked because i have said "this guy or that guy hasnt shown that yet " . how many times have i been told i am naive ? or i wear rose colored glasses or my head is "buried in the sand ?

that is a back handed way of saying skinsdad you arent smart how can you be so dumb to believe that ? look at the blogs man everybody is plotting wake up !!

man i have been rewarded numerous times in my life by treating people positively and believing in them . way more then i have been burned

and leave the psychology to the professionals . you have no idea what is going on in my life or my mind and this is yet another attempt to minimize they way i think and some how make it substandard while making your belief system "smarter or more practical " self gratification ?!? . for the love of god is that patronizing or what ?

OK, point by point..........I agree that not everything involves some back door intrigue, I can't imagine who did say that, or intimate that everything was.

Personally, I could give less than a foul damn who RGIII dines with, or what film is watched.

Here's why I root and will continue to root for this team. I was weaned on Washington football from the moment I was able to show interest in the game. That was nearly 54 years ago. Now, what I'm about to tell you in very important.............I was raised to honor and protect my hometown, that includes the team. Further, this is the lesson that was taught to me and my brothers and sisters, I've passed on it to my kids, and now to my grandchildren..........Ready??............ Any man (woman) who cannot support/defend or honor their hometown is a person who fails to be very well grounded when issues of honor, protection or defense are at question.

It is my hometown team.....I support them......they have the opportunity to now honor/ defend and support those of us who insist that the name does none of these things. It is your choice to disown the team, if the name is changed, if this is also your home team, I would encourage you to not do this, That would speak volumes about you the man, just as my support of the team does with the current name.

There is a huge difference between the proper name....Washington, and the common name (that I will not use)

I don't reject those statements, I respect your (and others) right to them. I just insist on the right to have a differing opinion, and have those who stand against my (our) position at least respect it.

Again, no one that I can recall has asked you to forgo your right to see the good in people and give them the benefit of the doubt nor to I live your life as you see fit. It is your right to do so and I will be among the first to defend your right to do this and does not change because we differ on certain topics.

Is it not a fact that cynicism can also be healthy?? Just take a look around you and you will see that a healthy dose of cynicism was in part the inspiration for everything that you see, use and enjoy. I know that too many are quick to not recognize its value, but if you've ever changed your mind about someone or something and later found that to be a wise decision, then you too are a cynic and have practiced cynicism in a healthy manner.

Much respect to you as well.....So refreshing to {talk} through and gain a healthy respect for our differences. Through it all we are still members of the greatest fan base in the NFL.
