Cleveland won't be able to keep both. We have holes in both positions these two pro bowlers play. We need to snag one of them in free agency.

Man, we really need a CBFinnegan is as good as gone.
Man, we really need a CB
NO CAP room, if we sign one of these guys, Saffold is history!
Man, we really need a CB
Dennard sucks. He would need to get really good coaching
zeke do you really think we're gonna go into next season with no cap room???
We've gone over this. Finnegan is as good as gone. and with dahl and Wells probably on their way out we'll be sitting at 11 to 12 mil. Not to mention Jake long has to eat 4mil because he ended the season on IR. So we should have about 15 mil cap room when its all said and done with our cuts.
If we resign Saffold I can't see it eating up more than 4 to 5 mil. So that will leave us with 10 to 11mil left over. I think that should suffice. Not to mention thats with no restructures which will probably happen with a couple of players.
HEY Jacob?? who in the hell taught you how to add??
15mill??....you better rethink our finances. This article says that we will have around 32mill available after all cuts are made,(possibly 36 mill if Langford is cut) But you didn't take in consideration all of the inflated salaries and rookies salaries. Let me sum it up for you.
Well, there usually is at least one bust in the top 10 but I wouldn't bet your house on it. Dennard likes to play man but doesn't play fast enough to stick with them. He can't locate the ball well. He holds the WR on every play...thats getting called at the next level.Darqueze Dennard will not make it past Detroit at #10... period, end of statement.
No no .........Zeke Im only accounting for players that will be most likely cut. Langford probably WONT be cut because he has another year on his contract and he didn't play bad at all this year. I'm not saying you're wrong because we don't know who they are going to cut loose and keep. But I can tell you Fine,Wells, and Dahl are the most likely to go.
And the rookie salary cap doesn't count against our 121mil (or whatever it is) cap right? So I'm not really understanding where you're getting your numbers from.
You're also forgetting to add the 4mil from J Longs status of IR at the end of the season.
Someone asked Jim Thomas in one of his Tuesday Q&A's about the salary cap and it pretty much put it in the same light as I did. He estimated we'll have about 14 to 16 mil cap space after the cuts are done. I'm not talking about resigning of Saffold and others. I'll try to find the post where he broke it down.
The 32 mill estimate was with Lanford still on the team. I deducted Fininegans, Dahls and Wells. If we did cut Langford, we would save and additional 4 mill bringing our CAP # to 36 mill. I started out at 32 mill.
So why wouldnt rookies salaries count? They are part of the roster and their salaries do count. My article shows what last year rookies pay scales were, so that is a good gauge to show approxiamately what we will be shelling out this year.
I havent seen anything on where it states that we will save 4 mill on Jake Longs injury. So ..I hope this is true, do you have a link to show where this is true?
ask and you shall receive......Rams place OT Jake Long on injured reserve - ESPN
"For 2014, Long was scheduled to make $8 million in base salary with the $1.25 million from his signing bonus added for a total cap charge of $9.25 million. However, the Rams added a provision to the deal that would guarantee only half of the $8 million base salary if he didn't finish the 2013 season on the roster. Now that he's on injured reserve, Long technically is only guaranteed $4 million. "
I'm still looking for the Jim Thomas Answer where he broke it down. I'm sure he knows more about it than we do.
This offseason will make or break the team for the next few years. The Rams have excellent draft picks but a lot of mediocre contracts. I could see us being 4-12 next year. I could see us being 12-4. The margin between a good team and a bad team in the NFL is really slim.So this is the first time I've seen this, my article doesnt mention any savings coming from this. So this will help some..... but IMO we are still in bad shape. We have holes at safety, cornerback, guard. Also depends on whether or not we resign Saffold, Dunbar. Can Jake Long rebound? Can Sam Bradford rebound? my.. my...my... when will the pain go away?
