Fumbles through the opponent's end zone should result in the ball given to the offense at the point of fumble... not the defense at its own 20.

Absolutely agree with this one…..if defense doesn't recover, why the hell do they get the ball? Might be the dumbest rule of all time.

FCS Teams can only be played as a PRESEASON game.

There is no preseason in college, unless you meant before conference play starts but hell some teams start conference play their first game.

I'm not really sold on that though, too much like letting a replay decide whether the ump in baseball called the ball a strike or the strike a ball to me.

Baseball needs to use a computer for that. Sticking to people for "tradition" is bullshit. Get the calls right in all sports.

Yet the "tradition" of the bowls lingers on. Either get rid of the bowls completely and go to an 8 team playoff (rest stay at home, sorry) or go with bowls only in my opinion, just cut back on the number of bowl games.

Stop giving the offense a free play when there's a penalty called on the defense. The rules that apply to an offensive penalty occurring should also apply to the defense.

Bowl game numbers are fine with me, and I really don't understand why people bitch about them. More football. If you don't like them, then don't watch them. What's the problem?

Ummm, what?

I guess on a false start, he wants the refs to let the play run in case the defense gets a turnover or a really good sack or tackle for loss. :noidea:

silly.

Or when the defense jumps into the neutral zone on a snap, the refs stop the play immediately instead of letting the offense get the "free play"

Or if defensive holding in the secondary is flagged, the play ends immediately?
How about pass interference? The ball is end the air about to get to the WR, but if there's interference, the ref blows his whistle immediately and the WR doesn't have the chance to catch the ball [because we have to be fair to the defense]????

It's 2014! Put chips in the ball and let them determine where the last play ended. It's not rocket science and it would (finally!) stop the problem of officials giving poor spots, guessing if the ball broke the plane, making sure if the ball went through the uprights, etc. I checked with a friend in that business and he said it could be done for no more than $100,000 on each field......chump change in today's college football budgets.

I was thinking the same thing. chips in the balls and then a grid under the field or some other tech to give the exact location.

And what does that solve? Nothing.

You still have to determine on replay at times where the players knee, body, arm was down.

and I never understand why people get upset about the number of bowls. WHy is that even an issue.

Extra exhibition games at the end of the year is more football for all CFB fans and more importantly, extra practices for the kids and an extra game for the fans of said teams.

The games are meaningless essentially anyways. They dont determine any type of championship and rarely influence final rankings.

So why not throw the fans and players a bone?

Winning teams and even .500 teams????? Let em have a bowl. It isnt like the Pizza and Potato Bowls are hurting or influencing a damn thing by being played.

Sure it does, if you have it synced with the clock. You can determine when the knee went down, what th time was. Using that you can see where the ball was at that time.

It obviously only works when you have a good visual of a knee or elbow.

Hurry Up Offense - should be slowed down (to a degree), there are too many illegal formation and procedure penalties being missed because the refs do not have time to go through their checks, that alone gives the offense too much of an advantage.

I don't watch NFL games, but do those teams generally practice a hurry-up offense, and if so, how do their officials deal with it?

What difference would the chip make then? If we are looking at slow mo when the player was down we can see where the ball was as well.

Still comes down to a judgement call whether the chip is there or not.

I guess just some of us old fogies still believe in the notion that a Bowl game was supposed to be a reward for a team that earned it.

With so many bowl games, there are teams that didn't earn it being given bowl games simply to fill slots.

I know. Outdated concept in today's world of celebrating mediocrity and giving out participation trophies to grown adults.

Do away with the penalty for running into the kicker.
Make it roughing the kicker, or nothing at all.

Like they did the facemask penalty.

additionally, how about a 15 yard flopping penalty
