He's giving Shanahan way too much credit. Shanahan is a bad coach who did a bad job with a bad team he put together.

Really? SO what should he have done differently in terms of talent? Remember, he had a $18M cap hit both of the last two years. BTW,he didn't give Shanahan credit,, he dinged RG3 for mis focus.

It's hard to argue that Whitlock is NOT right on target.

And THAT'S the problem.

I have been saying since last week, the best thing for this team and RG3 right now is for Cousins to look good over these last three games. Nothing will force Griffin to actually focus more than seeing that Cousins can run this offense well.

There were a lot of better ways he could have approached it. He did nothing. Not a single thing.

And yes, yes he did. He said Shanahan knew it was coming, Shanahan planned for this, Shanahan planned for that, Shanahan is falling on the sword for something that's not his fault when he's clearly just trying to not look like he butchered the hell out of his job, etc. Shanahan has never been as good as he has been portrayed to be, and his effort in Washington has been one of the worst in the league.

Like what? What could mike have done regarding talent? Please be specific. You seem to know a lot about the internal workings of the team even tho you aren't a fan of the team. So please tell us all what he could have done to bring more talent to this squad in the last 4 years.

Maybe he could have vetoed the RG3 trade and we would have had 3 different 1st round picks and another second (4 starters). Is that what you are referring to?

Not to mention in the first two years Shannahan was in cap hell from the previous regiem. He had finally started to clear the cap up so we could splash around in free agency when they hit us with the cap hit. Also in his first year Shannahan didn't have a second or third round pick..the first round pick became Trent Williams the 4th round pick became Perry Riley. I could go on here and list the free agents and draft picks he has brought to the team in his four years and it is quit impressive given what he had to work with IMO.

Shanny

Also please don't forget the bad moves he didn't make.. lol.. We could have had Blain Gabbart with our 1st a few years ago...He coached patiently for two years with John Beck and Rex Grossmen. He did that to be patient and build a team the right way. QB's don't grow on trees...Then he sees that there is a QB rich draft class and snatches to of them. I trust his personnel moves.

There were countless options. You have less roster worthy players than arguably anyone on the league and after QB and maybe arguably RB literally every position needs seriously upgraded.

If you want one area he should have targeted, go O Line. Protect your franchise.

Dude, name one or STFU. You come one here acting like you know what the fuck you are talking about and dreaming about sniffing RG3's jock. Either sit back and learn or offer something concrete or leave.

Name one what? I said one area he should have targeted, but if the redskins disband tomorrow, less than half their roster gets picked up. Pretty much every position group is awful.

Name one specific player and how they could have picked him up. You say OL, wow. No one ever thought of that before. Who? How? You claim Shanahan hasn't done anything to upgrade the talent, what specifically would you have done? You seem to believe you have some great answer.

No. It is impossible to predict how free agency would have been affected if shanahan wasn't a joke of a GM (and better at that than coaching). I'm not going to play those games. All I'm saying is that there are a handful of players on the roster that aren't terrible. Shanahan has made the team far worse in his time there.

You are a fool that hasn't a clue what you are talking about. You just have a man crush on RG3 (kinda creepy) and come on here to say we haven't done enough to protect him. And this is coming from someone that is pro RG3. But wasn't that the same OL that blocked for Kirk on Sunday and gave up how many sacks?

The truth of the matter is that when Shanahan got here, the franchise was in shambles. His first year, we were already over the cap with the oldest roster in the league. and he had one 1st round pick and not another pick until the 4th. He had to gut the team just to get under the cap. His second year wasn't much better, again, no real draft picks until the later rounds. Finally in, his third year, we were out of cap hell, or so we thought. We trade a shit load of our picks for RG3 and then get hit with a $36M cap penalty. So we don't have any money to sign any FAs for the last 2 years, nor do we have any high draft picks. SO how the fuck was he supposed to upgrade the talent on a talentless team without draft picks or without money to spend in FA? Yet, with all of these limitations, we have added, during Shanahan's regime, a PB caliber OLB (kerrigan), a PB caliber QB, a PB caliber RB and a future PBer TE (Reed). We also have a potential high caliber CB (Amerson) added this last year and we have a perennial PB player at LT (Williams, we do have one good OL) and OLB (Orakpo) We also will most likely have a PB CB this year (Hall) for which Shanahan reduced his salary by 50% by cutting him and re-signing him. SO to say the franchise is worse than when he came is pure ignorance. And this lesson comes from you from a guy that thinks Shanahan should be fired. Lesson over. Go home and learn to do some research before you shoot you mouth off.
