It is early but if Bynum can get close to or back to where he was close to midseason, they are legit.

Great pickups in offseason: Jarrett Jack and Earl Clark, of course Bynum.

Thompson is really growing as an offensive player and Varejeo and Thompson on the block is strong defensively, add Bynum it is very strong.

Starting lineup: Kyrie, Waiters, Clark, Varejeo, Thompson.

Bench: Jack, Miles, Gee, Bynum, Zeller, the #1 pick Bennett.

Btw...a couple years from now Kyrie will be the best PG in the NBA...IMO

Cavs beat a brand new team, with some ancient components. They have only played 1 game and it was a home opener. Saying all that...

I will repost the same thing I have said all preseason. The Cavs could be pretty good this year (regardless of Bynum as long as the rest of the team stays relatively healthy), I see them as a 4-6 seed. It depends on how the Nets come together for that 4 and I really think they will be seeded higher than the Knicks, but I will not be shocked if the Knicks get a 4th seed.

Promotion by subtraction?

Let's see him put a full season together, he is no doubt probably going to be the most skilled though.

I have the Pistons 7th/8th. I have NY as the 5th seed. I still think they're a 50 win team and I don't see Cleveland or Detroit winning 50

They'll certainly be much better - I loved the Jarrett Jack move

Right behind the Pistons, where they belong:yahoo:

Detroit's roster is looking real good as well. The East has been wo weak in the past (improving), both could very well make the playoffs.

Heat
Pacers
Bulls
Nets

Knicks
Sixers

Then Raptors, Pistons, Cavs improving

One of those teams could realistically get a 5 seed

Of course health has been an issue, if he can stay healthy. He has had some freak injuries, even at Duke

"Freak injuries" are only freak injuries if they do not have a history of happening to the same player. He very well could be too skilled for his own body. His muscles and mind can do things his ligaments and bones say are impossible. Usually these types of issues are shown in big men, but it can happen to anybody.

He could also just have poor nutrition leaving his body devoid of nutrients to aid in recovery, prevention and over all strength. Proper nutrition is so much more important than people realize.

Sixers? Really? What about the Hawks?

If the Pistons and Cavs play up to their potential how sick is that division with Indiana, Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit?
Heat
Pacers
Bulls
Nets
Knicks
Pistons, Cavs, Hawks
Wiz, Raptors

Though all depending on injuries, of course. And I think that the Knicks may falter.

Yah I don't like the knicks as much as in the past and the age concern. Also the Wiz are supposed to be better every year and so the same thing. I just don't think Wall is a leader.

The Knicks best player are all still pretty young except for Chandler and Amare.

These are their best 6 players

Melo (under 30)
Smith (under 30)
Shump (under 25)
Felton (under 30)
Amre (30)
Tyson (31)

yes, but saying under thirty is pretty much saying not yet declining. Except for Shump those guys have reached their potential and aren't getting any better (maybe Melo could learn some D?). So it is pretty much saying we got the same thing as last year with bigs in decline. I could definitely see them falter, especially if Melo starts thinking FA early.

I'll be disappointed if we're not at least 6 in the east. Too many top 5 picks. Time to put up or shut up.

Well I guess bottomline, they are same old thing. Haven't improved, I don't consider them to have a shot at a title (not what the owner thinks lol). And Melo like you said has to become an all-around great player (defense). This team can win as many games as they want, but the playoffs is what matters and they aren't good enough to beat the top teams.

Kyrie is going to be very good, but if Rajon Rondo ever gets back to full health...

Please. Kyrie can do something Rondo could bever and will bever do. Take over a game scoring it in multiple ways and every way.

Not counting scoring, Rondo does have the edge, but scoring is too important and Kyrie can do it with the best of em

And Kyrie is already very good and he is 21. He is going to be great!

Not going to knock you for standing up for your team's PG, but don't forget that Rondo has had more good scorers to pass to than Kyrie has had to date.

Irving has had greater need to be a scorer than Rondo has.

And in case you didn't already know, Rajon is now a FAR better shooter than he was in his rookie year.
He shoots when he needs to, but knows better than most that that is not a PG's primary job on a championship caliber team.

Rondo is better than Irving by experience alone IMO. That said I think Irving will be the best pg in the game for years to come if he can stay healthy. Mike brown is going to instill defense in his game now, something rondo also has the edge on.
