Because Marino's selfish attitude hurt his team, and i believe a big reason why he never won a SB. Like i said earlier i'm all about winning and i cann't say he was one of the best ever while never accomplishing the only goal for a player.

Mcro...you opened this door.

Okay...I think we both saw Marino's career in total..."selfish"

The make up of the team, solid OL, avg. RB, decent TE, 2 good (but small) WRs in Clayton and Duper...the DEF was never that good. I'm not understanding the selfish tag...Do you think passing stats were more important than winning to Marino?

Absolutely, plus i never liked his leadership, i always remember him yelling at teammates and acting like he never made any mistakes

I don't view Marino as selfish. I do think that he had enough around him that he should have won at least one, and that not doing so rightfully hurts his legacy

I saw your response to my Cam comment...I should be tested...uh.

2012 - 3869/58%/19td/12int/86.2
2011 - 4051/60%/21td/17/int/84.5

I'm not thinking RG3, Kaep or RW will approach those passing stats after this season.

Marino...you would think, but considering BUF went to 4 consecutive SBs, and DEN went to 2 or 3 if I'm not mistaken, clearly the MIA team wise was not on the level as those teams. Marino does take a hit because he only got to the one SB game, but he carried those guys.

He was a competitor would get in his teammates face. (Brady) I think you just hit the nail on the head here...you never really liked the guy...fair enough.

Don't most QB's carry their teams? I know not all of them do, but most SB teams win the SB because of their QB's right? Don't QB's have the most SB MVP awards?

Yes, but there are enough examples to test that theory. Here's a few QBs that were carried to the SB.

Bradshaw '74 & '75

Brad Johnson...Bucs

Dilfer...Ravens

Ben Roth...'06

I think we would really be finding something if we found a SB winning team that had a bad DEF...those Dolphin teams were in a lot of shootouts because they had no DEF. IMO that's why the Marino era Dolphins never won one.

I agree and you could add in guys like Jim McMahon and a few others to that list. I think to say QB's "carry" the team because they get the MVP's is wrong. Sometimes it's true but I would say more often then not, it's a much bigger picture.

i understand there are some, and not everyone has the same luxuries, as a Dlifer, but Marino had enough help from his team to win a SB and fell short.

He had enough help to get there once...2 teams (BUF & DEN) represented the AFC in the SB 6 or 7 times during his career so you can't overlook that...MIA was not a dominant team just as SD wasn't...they had great QBs and OFC but DEF was not championship caliber.

Yes and no.

The two teams they've played have given them a lot of turnovers.

That being said as good as they are right now, they're going to get better when Von Miller and Champ Bailey come back.

Add that to a weak schedule and this team COULD run the table.

Actually, it was 9 times, 4 from Buffalo and 5 from Denver. That's over half of his career (17 years).

non-dominant teams win the SB all the time, if he had enough and didn't get it done it's on him sorry and the same thing goes for every other player on those teams.

One of the bigger stories emerging from the New England Patriots' ugly 13-10 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday night was the visible frustration of Tom Brady. At times, the Pats' QB yelled at teammates, threw his arms up in disgust at yet another dropped pass, and went on easy-to-read verbal tirades on the sidelines.
