I acknowledge that the Capitals & Rangers have a rivalry together, they sure seem to play against each other in the playoffs a lot. At the same time, I don't sense the animosity & hatred between the Capitals & Rangers like I do with Capitals & Penguins or Flyers & Penguins. Seems to be too much mutual respect between the players in the Capitals vs Rangers rivalry.

I like how 43 called the Washington basketball team 'Bullets'. Wes Unseld, Kevin Grevey, that was a very good team.

I am adverse to change.

Do the ranger$ fans know?

No, they are too busy being Yankee fans until the suspension kicks in, trying to convince us their pizza is better and crying about earthquakes that happened 300 miles away.

Nuck Few York

Remember him & Dubinsky getting in a fight a couple years back? Dubinsky ended up on top & OV was like "good fight buddy". That would never happen if a Flyer & a Penguin got into a fight.

In that case Avery vs Marty was the best rivalry because they didn't shake hands after their playoff series

It's was a good rivalry. I think the Devils & Rangers have a good rivalry going. Would put it above Capitals & Rangers, about on par with the Flyers & Penguins.

If by "on par" you mean "better" than of course

Yeah I hate the Devils more than the Islanders I wont even buy this years NHL game because Marty is on the cover.... I voted about 30 times against him.

I miss Duby man he was a great locker room guy and was always willing to get into it for his team.

I think that's debatable but I also think you underestimate the impact & intensity of the Flyers/Pens rivalry.

It looks like a good game tho. I personally voted Bobrovsky myself but with the 1994 Aniversary Mode I think Marty sort of fits.

Yeah he was always willing to jump in for his teammates. Him & Anisimov did good things for the Blue Jackets last season. I could see the Blue Jackets & Rangers being a good rivalry over the next few years. Lots of trades between the 2 teams recently.

I'm not underestimating anything. Pens/Flyers may be an instate rivalry, but its a 4 hour drive from between the Console Energy Center and the Wells Fargo Center. By comparison, its 23 minute drive from the Prudential Center to the Garden. Fuck, its a 90 minute drive from the Prudential Center to the Wells Fargo Center! To take it a step further, most people on both sides of the rivalry just catch a train to either arena for a Devils/Rangers because its so close. And the coup de grace of this debate is this, the Devils and Rangers have NEVER made a trade with each other. The only two teams in the (old) Atlantic division to do that.

I get it, you're a Penguins fan so you typically think your team is the most important team in just about anything and all things, but this time you're not.

I never thought I would ever say this to a Devils fan but I totally agree with you I think the extremely close proximity to each other just adds to the hatred. Because its so easy to buy tickets and drive to their arena and be an invader. Now if the Islanders stay halfway decent and when they start playing in Brooklyn I can see Devils/Rangers/Islanders heating up even more. That and Devils are still kinda angry about 94 Ranger fans are still angry about the following years when we thought we had a dynasty going. I think you get a little more hatred then you would Pens/Philly

On a side note how do the Rangers play 3 games at Yankee Stadium and none are considered home games. (I dont mind just seems weird.)

Yeah, Bullets was a better name.

I don't know guys. The Wizards' name is almost as beloved in this city as the team itself. ;)

(Random note - I once met Wes Unseld in a Sizzler near my hometown. Watching that guy trying to reach under the sneeze guard of the salad bar was rather comical.)

Agree. Example - we chanted "we want Pittsburgh" during a REGULAR season game a few years back. We've never done that for any other team. Also, I've only ever had a Pittsburgh fan take a swing at me at the arena - the true measure of a real rivalry.
