Obviously the total championships isn't the only factor and that's bullshit even if it came from Magic Johnson, but when you are comparing elite player for elite players and their numbers come close enough to be in the top 20 ever - then yes I believe the total championships is a big factor.

Miami Heat fans, you need to calm down and stop biting on all of the crap in here. If Lebron is as good as you believe, he will get his and validate your beliefs. It takes time be considered one of the greats and Lebron is finished yet, so remember that patiences wins the battle

Lebron James may not be top five just yet, but he has cemented his legacy as greater than Kobe Bryant. He's been Kobe's biological father since at 2006-07 at the latest. Word.

I think Rings is somewhere between 20% and 50% but I would never say close to 50% for my own personal evaluations.

MVPs: 25%
DPOY: 15%
DPOY considerations: 10%
Finals MVP: 15%
Rangs: 20%

Stats: 20%
Plays D: 20%

Intangibles: 25%

A lot of those work together. MVPs imo say that you are the best player in the league at your time, if you are not that you have no business being in the GOAT discussion or high on that list.

If you have an MVP you probably play good D, if you play great D you will get DPOY considerations, that is huge imo.

Finals MVP: Being the best player in the biggest series of the year is a big deal. This also acts as a modifier to Rings in a way.

Stats are huge but D is just as important.

Intangibles, I do not give a lot of credence to clutch "gene" bayless BS but I do give a lot of credence to not having off court issues, making your teammates better, and your commitment to your team, the game and getting better. Also, an understanding of what it takes to win and the willingness to do what ever it takes (like pay cuts and sacrificed stats etc).

You may notice that that all adds up to 150%. Well I do not know where I could possibly cut from and the players on this list gave 150% so yea, I guess it all works out. Or I could just make it a out of 150 points in each category but it is too late now!!

Kareem: 133 points

15 This award did not start until Kareem was far past his prime but I have a hard time believing he would not have won it a couple of times.

Kobe: 92

MVP: 5 He won it once, and he can directly blame LBJ for that. I want to give LBJ Kobe's other 20 points here :D

20 Magic was Magic...until he also faced an early retirement which could have happened to any NBA star honestly.

LBJ: 121 That is probably a little close to MJ, definitely some kinks need to be worked out...maybe MJ needs more than 1 intangible point...

Imagine if Lebron had gone to a team early in his career that had lots of talent to surround him. I suspect he would already have a few more rings. Since MJ, no player had had more pressure and responsibility, and quite frankly he proved me wrong these last few years. He is becoming one for the ages, a top 3 if he continues this trend

Its all luck and circumstances. I wish he had gone to a contender or at least a team that had some good pieces in place.

Imagine Lebron with YOUNG Shaq and not the dinosaur he ended up playing with in 2009-10. Maybe GTOAT. Word.

Or if Lebron had just gone to a team with a GM/Owner that was competent?

And Lebron stats will look nothing like they look now. They would be down.

As I said - the rings is obviously the deciding factor, but not the only factor which is what I wanted to clear up. That being said I believe that is what Magic Johnson was talking about and that the Heat fans in here have taken things out of context - I would agree that Robert Horry with 8 rings is not a better player then Michael Jordan with six rings, but there is no question that Michael Jordan with 6 rings is 100% better then Lebron with 2 rings.
