See that's the problem with American sports fans...it's all about scoring scoring scoring. If Felix is in a 0-0 or 1-1 pitching duel with let's say Justin Verlander...is that boring because there's not alot of scoring? If the Seahawks were in a defensive battle where the score was 3-0 or 6-3 against a tough 49ers team...would that be boring?

Don't mistaken soccer's lack of scoring for lack of action or excitement. 0-0 games or 1-1 games are usually some of the most intense games, because at any moment with one defensive mistake, one great header, or a great lob that drops in and it could result in a goal that seals the game.

It's very similar to an intense pitcher's duel where one bad pitch or one great swing could result in a hr that seals the game.

Nothing matches the intensity of the game of football but to say that soccer is boring is just wrong. It's nonstop action where there are no stops in play and most importantly no commercial breaks. Have you ever watched an nba game and in the final 20 seconds there's like 5 commercial breaks lol

It is not about the scoring so much as it is about the fact that the game can end in a tie (and routinely does). I have no interest in wasting time watching a game to have it end in a tie. I want to see a winner and a loser. That is the difference between soccer and baseball, one will eventually have a winner and one will just end pathetically, having accomplished nothing.

I like baseball, so it is not boring to me, but I know that it is a boring game to many. Soccer is the same way and no where near "non-stop action," it is just endless jogging back and forth until someone finally "hits a homerun." Again, the difference is that baseball will have a winner eventually.

The "excitement" in soccer is ruined quite often by flopping, which is worse than it was in basketball. And no, I don't watch basketball, it is worse than soccer to me, but then again, at least basketball will have a winner so maybe it isn't that bad?

Sounders just announced that with having the entire upper deck opened for tix sales, Dempseys first home game in Seattle. Vs. Portland has completely sold out. 67,000.

CLink is going to be rocking.

Awesome, this was the first time I actually looked at the Sounders schedule to see when their next game was. I'll be watching. I normally watch when I run across the games on tv.

Earlier I alluded to this being the biggest signing in Seattle sports history and I'm going to stand by that. For what Dempsey is, where he is coming from, and the jolt this will give not only the Sounders but all of MLS makes this the biggest signing in Seattle.

Ichiro was mentioned and that probably rivals this, I'm not sure why but this just seems bigger.

Soccer is a more popular sport world wide for one and Dempsey can actually be the tipping point to get Seattle to a championship. Ichiro did join at a time where the Mariners played a competitive brand of ball, but he wasn't going to be the difference between where they were and a championship caliber team. I still say the two are on par with each other when people question if any Seattle team has ever had this kind of big name acquisition. Getting Ichiro in his prime was a very big deal back then. Doesn't look like it as much now since he is gone and we never won a championship, but don't forget how big it was at that time.
