He probably already has the highest usage rate in the NBA among players that make it to the Finals. He needs to rest so I have no problem with it. He has more rings to win. Haters will of course have an issue. Just proves they really know he is the best on the planet.

I think this gives another guy a shot at getting to play in the Olympics.

I grew up when no NBA players were allowed in the Olympics and young kids got the chance to shine.

Quite frankly, give me a bunch of scrubs who pull off the greatest upset in Olympics history (1980 US hockey team) over a bunch of millionaires whose only reason they held American flags over their chest on the medal podium was to hide a corporate logo.

It doesn't bother me at all if an NBA player says no to the Olympics.

You don't see Kobe quitting on the US team - especially after playing in last Olympics in his 30's.... Yup am comparing the two so I have a problem with Lebron quitting at all of age 28.

I think it's fine, just giving other players to have opportunites. He had his time, tine to pass it on.

I didnt realize that Kobe was the standard Lebron has to emulate. Who cares besides you how long Kobe played? Besides Lebron has already bypassed Kobes contribution and has played in 3 Olympics to Kobes 2.

Not that Kobe is any measuring stick to what James should ever do, but perhaps figure in the number of post season minutes each has played the last 3 seasons and then factor in how many more James will more than likely be playing the next few seasons.

He (James) is looking to some day be remembered as the best NBA player of all time, not the best Olympian.
Let some new blood in the Olympics anyway.

If LBJ doesn't play in next olympics he never would have won gold without kobe thus asterisk every thing LBJ has ever done. Even if he does play since he won't be playing against kobe in the olympics asterisk that too.

Beat Sman to it hahahahaha

And not only that, but he has to win a gold medal with montsho, Botslayer, Turnup and me as his teammates.

Otherwise it doesn't count.

LeBron is always about himself and nothing will change that. He doesnt care about regular people and there everyday lives. Hell he doesnt care to know who is real father is and getting his drug addict mother help. He cares about himself and his boys thats all.

I'm money in the bank. When I let it go from 3 pt range I dont even bother watching it go through the net. Lebron would be the first superstar player with a platinum medal if I were on the team.

No problem with this. He's played in 3 Olympics, has 2 gold medals. Let another guy take his place and have a shot.

As a Laker fan, I wish Kobe had played a little less for the Olympic team. The players on the Olympic teams end up playing virtually "year-round" when you factor in the Olympic team commitment plus their NBA team. It takes a toll on these guys!!

LMAO not to get into this and as if anything you are saying carries weight but unless you know what it is like to deal with a true addict or absent parent don't judge.

You mean another grown up man you would have to take care of. The fact he did overcome all that is pretty awesome.

Side note, I think he finally hired a PR rep because what he said after the 2nd ring was perfect. Try hating on a guy who over came a drug addict single mother. He will be loved and in one of those 30 for 30s in a few years.

With montsho jacking up the threes and Botslayer slashing the lane....

guess that leaves me to flop like a Texas-born Ginobli.

especially when you consider he volume of games lebron has played in the 18 months. lockout shortened season, finals. olympics. full season, finals. Ok with the guy resting a little bit. Not like we are devoid of talent on the wings anyway. It'll give guys like Paul George a chance to step up

Where was Kobe to help "save the USA team" back in 2004 when we won the Bronze?
