Thanks JD! I didn't think it was a trick post....

BTW - If you're just he messenger than what is your opinion?

I'd really like to know...
They got to the Finals. James seemed timid for some reason. Not sure why other than maybe trying to let Wade have one more spotlight / hur-rah as his health had been declining. Maybe a pact was made between the 2 to let Wade be the go to option??

IDK.

That's pretty candid JD and it really wasn't a set up question or anything but just how far back to do you think that pact goes?

You don't need to answer as I can surely understand your true meaning here.

Your answer was just kind of funny from this side of the fence considering, well I'm sure you know, but for those that don't.... the whole collusion accusation thing, warranted or not.

The haters can deny Kobe's greatness, it only motivates him so keep making threads like this. We need more crazy folks like you.

This just in: KOBE IS READING THIS THREAD!!!

:D

Honestly Kobe is a great player, top 15 easy. I can see him ahead of many great players but I think if he is placed ahead of Duncan he is mildly overrated. Ahead of Shaq and we are getting close to heavily. If we utter his name in the same breath as MJ, Kareem or Bill we are talking absurdity.

If you put him ahead of LBJ I think that is fine, that will not last long in anyone's opinion.

No HizzleRocker, there were a few of us like you who stated this before....

The problem here is these folks who want to believe this and everything they read as gospel are swallowing these statements as fact hook, line and sinker.

Here are some quotes of those who have challenged these so called facts....

You might want to recheck your stats. LOL...

They're all wrong....

in 2000 Kobe didn't average 29, he averaged 22.5 pts in the regular season...

LOL...Who wrote this article, all the stats are way off....

And Of course Kobe only averaged 15 pts in the finals in2000. He only played the first quarter in game 3 since he sprained his ankle and missed the next game...If you only play half a quarter and go scoreless in a 5 game series your average is affected enormously..

In 2001 Kobe had a higher average in the finals then the regular season...

LOL..

Where did you get these stats from..They're nonsense...LOL..

Nice try.

Anyone who actually watched Kobe play knows this is a bunch of BS. Most Heat fans are kids who idolize LeBronze.

thread tl;dr

he has rings and stats to back everything up. seems like all this article has is if and buts...

Is Phil Jackson not a great coach becuase Doc Rivers probably could have won 11 championships with his teams

Check that, a blog with many laughable mistakes and opinions, yet some here want to call it Great! (Cough, cough BK!)

BK, this type of shit is why people clown on you brother.

It's just the world we live in, you can make a blog and make shit up and pass them off as facts and there will be fools abound.....

Reminds me of that commercial where there there is this chick who believes she is going out with a French model

Just be glad it was written in 2009. He didn't have the 2010 Finals performance to use to further the truth.

Here's a quote from the article. Would Laker fans agree?

Every time Kobe looks at his first three rings, he should thank god everyday
that he had the opportunity to play with Shaq. In reality the young Kobe Bryant
who won three championships isn’t as good as the Kobe leading the Lakers right
now
.

Remember, the article was written in 2009. After the Finals were over.

Sure I can agree with that JD however I think that Shaq should thank Kobe too and both should thank Phil and the role players as well.

It takes a team to win a Championship, even then some of the best on some very good teams fall short.

As I recall Shaq had a pretty talented SG in Orlando, made the Finals too but got run off the court in a 4 game sweep (Not to be confused with the phantom 5 game sweep).

Funny how Shaq's apparent MVP Finals numbers of 28 points on 59.5% shooting, 12.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists just wasn't enough but once he teamed up with another great SG and what some here want to call Robin, he gets him some rings.

Who knows how history writes itself, without Kobe on the Lakers, Shaq may have very well ended up as the most dominate player who never won it all taking the title from Chuck.

IDK and neither does anyone else.

If winning is the most important than why is that guy with 11 rings behind that guy with 6 at #1?

That would mean I didn't factor in anything. Bc Russell was good player but not great. Defensive great.

And that is a whole nother topic, he played with less competition and teams. I am not getting into that. There are couple guys on that C's team that had around 8 rings, why aren't they in the top 5?

Winning is very important, but not everything in determining greatness.

Lets be real folks. Kobe is overrated. Yes. But that doesnt mean he isnt a great player. He is lucky to have Shaq, the most dominant force in the nba then. Yes he was Robin not batman. But compared to Jordans Pippen or Lebrons Wade, Kobe was the best Robin there is. Makes me respect Tim Duncan since he did lead the Spurs to beat a Shaq-Kobe led team. Just as it is impressive for James who led the Heat over a powerful Spurs team.

We have to give respect to Kobe who indeed is the best Robin in nba history. Thats a feat in itself. But I think when it comes to being an individually ominant player in a season or seasons, we think of Duncan in his early championship years, we think of Shaq and definitely we think of Lebron James.

It really boils down to it is sad they both such huge character flaws to not see the big picture. Shaq being a D12* and Kobe thinking he was MJ.

*I am going to start using this instead of "little team destroying bitch"

not to be confused with a Melo "ball hogging coach firing causing player lacking the basic fundamentals to run a play that isn't him iso"

@heatmyshorts

No way is Kobe the best robin there ever was unless you are still calling him a robin for his next 2 rings. Which then I disagree with that.

Pippen was by far the greatest robin ever known to this sport. He was always the robin.

I will give kobe the credit that he was not a robin for his 4th and 5th, and he is better than Pippen, but when Kobe was being a robin he was not as good as Pippen when pippen was being a robin.

Also being a robin means having to shut your mouth a shit ton and listen to the BS that comes out of batman. There is nobody that could have ever been as good at that as Pippen.

Thats true about kobe s last two rings. He indeed was the alpha dog of the Lakers. But I do not see him necessarily dominant. He wasnt the MVP of the season. He did tremendous defense but wasnt the difference maker in Game 7. You have to give credit to Pau Gasol. Kobe was blessed with having a tandem of centers who were all star level. If any he (the kobe who won his last 2 championships) was as good as Dirk when the Mavs won the championship or Pierce when the Celts won. He isnt even in Wade's league... the relentless offensive force who beat Dirk and the Mavs back then.

Kobe at his best was nonchampionship... he was his most dominant when he led the league in scoring. But like everyone said, it is a team game. Had he learned how to pass to compliment his offensive genius back then, he would have entered the kobe vs jordan debate. Unfortunately that never happened.

Sorry. Just selected any post to reply to.
Wasn't implying that it was your position.
Anyway, I agree with you. Rankings make fun conversation, but are nothing but opinions.
Great players are great players. Enjoy them. Remember them, because they don't come around very often.

And they are never around as long as we think they will be!! I remember the Showtime Lakers of the 80's!! Thought that would last forever!!

Jordan was the man every night. Some nights, Shaq was the man some nights and some nights Kobe was the man. If you actually watched the games, you would know. Dont compare Pippen to Kobe.

Shaq was always the man, do not kid yourself. He was consistent and defenses singled him out. Coaches had to do hack a shaq. Kobe wasnt their concern as much as Shaq. But to give credit to Kobe he did deliver scoring. If I recall the Lakers never had Kobe on Iverson for example. Kobe was a scoring threat then. Thats about it.

What I dont understand is why Laker fans undervalue Shaq when Kobe is in the discussion.

So being the youngest to ever be selected to the all defense team means nothing.

Again if I recall, PJ couldnt put Kobe on AI back then. Kobe was gassed and hence they lost the 1st game in the Finals. It is not thatbit means nothing. It is an example that perhaps it is overrated.

How many folks could stop Iverson though, I think that's more a compliment to Iverson than a knock to Kobe.
