If the Heat has no plans of keeping either Ennis and Hamilton and stashing them oversees, they need to make the moves NOW so they have the roster spots and money available to them asap to go after other guys to fill the voids as opposed to waiting it out and then guys end up signing elsewhere.

Ira confirms reports of Ennis going oversees, so the move should be made soon... The same is expected with Hamilton if he isnt ready health-wise.... The only wildcard that would be left is Varnado, whose contract isn't guranteed until opening night

The Heat can stand pat right now without having to make any rushed decisions. The fact that guys like DeShawn Stevenson who had a considerable beef with Lebron is now trying his hardest to play on the Heat is very telling. Free agents are literally trying to scratch and claw their way into Miami. The Heat only have the mid-level exception and will not use it unless a player who's worthy of that contract comes there way. Mo Williams and Stevenson fall into the vet. minimum latter. The money will not run out as only veteran min. contracts can be offered at this point.

you certainly know more about the salary cap and how it works than I do. i just know we are in the luxury tax, so anybody signed really hits hard. i dont think we do anymore moves. our roster is fine the way it is. everyone returns.. miller out.. oden in. mike miller will sign somewhere. i will miss him. glad to see the former gator get a couple championships in the NBA... especially in Miami.

I have a fairly good understanding of the salary cap as well as the tax thresholds. The Mike Miller contract was definitely necessary from a financial point of view to get rid of. The guy was going to cost the Heat major money this upcoming season if he weren't amnestied. The salary cap right now is projected at a little over $58 million, while the tax is set at around $75 million. Everyone acts like due to the fact that we amnestied Mike, we have all this money available now - that is furthest from the truth. Look at our current salary structure below:

HoopsHype - NBA Salaries - Miami Heat

Miami is clearly over the salary cap. So for posters to come out and say that the Heat need to clearly get free agents now in a hurry before the money is all used up are throwing shit around without doing any researching. By amnestying Mike the Heat gained their mid-level back. But who are you going to use that on? Because the player will count nearly triple that in luxury tax payments - so he better be worth it. The Heat just need to add another guard, and they have all the time in the world.

Mike Miller went back to Memphis after being amenstied by the Heat.

As for DeShawn Stevenson or any other guy that wants to come to the Heat, if the price is right, and he fits in with what we try to do offensively and defensively, I am all for it - And, the Heat coaching staff and front office should be as well. Lebron does not own the team, isn't the team president, or is the coach - He just plays for the team...He does not need to be a Dwight Howard and try to tell the team who the coach should be or who to add to the team. We really don't need divas like that on this team... We have enough around the league

So the league schedules us to play the LA Fakers on Christmas Day. I think as Heat fans, we are thankful for the easy christmas gift we will receive... But the rest of the fans deserve to watch more enterataining and competitive basketball... They could have put us against the Spurs there, Pacers, Thunder or any quality opponent. Well, at least we got an easy win coming up

Heat play in NY on Feb 1st, so they will be off the next day for the SB... Good thing the NBA accomdated them so they aren't whinning about having to prepare for another game on the day of the SB.

I don't remember them whining. I think they just wanted to see the game. The whining was not about playing a 2 PM game in Toronto....It was about being on a plane back to Miami during the SB

What a tragedy it would have been to be on a plane back home to prepare for another game on the day of another game in a different sport, huh? That would just be terrible... Clown.

In other news, Greg Oden passed his physical today - This is the next bit of good news regarding him. He will speak to the media next week. But, not expected to be a formal press conference... Won't be televised or anything like that.

Who cares?
First game that matters for the Heat will be in round 2 of the playoffs.

Lets just get there as healthy as possible.

Every team has a challenging schedule.
Heat end up the #1 seed on talent alone.

Sun Sports/ Fox Sports Florida writers call the Heat's schedule to start with soft... I think we can agree on that. But, this is a bad sign. This means there will be many games in which they won't show up for mentally and could have a tougher time than they should. Hopefully, I am wrong and we come out blazing out of the gate and kick ass from start to finish - with little or no let ups.

And if I find reason to criticize them after winning back-to-back-to-back titles then I will do just that. As far as I know, there is no crime against it.

Miami Heat, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh commentary from Ira Winderman. - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

The Pot-Head strikes again! What a waste of a draft pick - More so, what a waste of human life. Hopefully the league bans this fool, ruins his career so he can do himself a favor of just putting the gun to his head already.

Shane Battier questions NBA schedule putting NBA champion Miami Heat on road Christmas, Thanksgiving. - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

In other news, the scrub that is Shane Battier is complaining of the Heat having to be on the road for the holidays - If he is so mad about it, he can do us a favor and stay home for those games and allow us to get some easy wins.
