I tried. I actually drove all the way down from Orlando. I got into Broward before 8am thinking I was ok.......took 3 hours to go 10 miles after that. By the time I hit Brickell it was close to 12. Needless to say I was pissed. Apparently alot more people came out this year then the 400k last year. smh

Damn I was so close on doing that.. was thinking of leaving my job early at 5am and go pick up my son and do the 3 hour drive from Orlando to Miami... and drive back right after. That was plan B but it just seem too much of a hassel. That I-95 traffic is always a bitch in the morning. Everytime I head down there I always try to beat traffic.. I guess today was just impossible unless you show up before 6.

i went to the parade in 2006. i remember Riley dancing and Shaq promising a repeat. i am going to get tickets to the game at orlando next year so I can see the big 3 in person before it is to late.

i also think lebron's video was funny... especially the way it gets all these people upset. lebron is in some heads.

The move, if you can do it, is to come down the night before and stay at one of the hotels right around Biscayne.
You are there, you're car is parked, etc...

James Jones and Rashard Lewis officially back with the Heat - Next up, Ray Allen. Says a lot, as expected of JJ and Rashard to want to come back for the purposes of winning a title and knowing how much they have to sacrifice for it - These two guys have sacrificed playing time and money for it... We need more guys like that and who can be productive when called upon. Not some scrub that does nothing and walks away with multiple rings.

The release came after business hours, but what it didn't say told the real story.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Heat issued a release that announced, "both forward James Jones and forward Rashard Lewis have exercised their player options for the 2013-14 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed."

Except . . . those are just two of the three Heat players with player options for next season, with Ray Allen the third.
The player-option deadline is Saturday.
The reality is that Ray Allen is not opting in.

But that also doesn't mean he's leaving.
As previously mentioned in this space, Allen benefits by not opting in, by not settling for the one year, at $3.2 million, remaining on the two-year deal he signed last summer when he left the Boston Celtics.

Instead, he now can utilize the arcane Non-Bird exception in the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
With that measure, he can start a new contract next season at a 20-percent raise over the $3.1 million he earned this past season.

In addition, under the Non-Bird guidelines, Allen can use that salary-cap exception to build a contract as long as four years, with annual 4.5-percent raises.

What it means is that Allen will become a free agent on July 1, just as he did last season.
It also means, because of the NBA's July signing moratorium, that the Heat cannot re-sign him until July 10, at the earliest.

I think it has something to do with being from Miami. Do you know good his life must be? He was born in Miami, went to college at Miami, and now been with the Miami Heat for the last 4 or 5 years....That is so rare in basketball to not only go to school in the city you were born in but also to play roughly half of your NBA career in that city must be wonderful.

I'm almost certain that if he was from Texas or something that he wouldn't still be with us.

He's essentially getting paid to sit on the bench. Can't really complain much.

Because James Jones been sitting on the bench for so long it would be hard for him to get a better contract with any other team with the little production he shown cause of him not getting any playing time. I know he still works hard with our three other snipers on the team (ray, Mike, and Shane). Which helps a lot and be ready when his number is called up.

The fact that Ray Allen is opting out likely bodes well depending on your stance that is. He could possibly re-up and go for another couple years. I don't see his body breaking down as is the case with some of his other peers given his role on the team. He was already a subpar defender and had difficulties staying in front of his man, but his offensive production was definitely on par considering he was coming off the bench and often times was the 3rd or 4th option on the court.

Here are some tweets from Ira related to Ennis and, the draft and other Heat matters:

James Ennis strengths: Stat sheet stuffer, Length, Great leaper, High basketball IQ, NBA 3pt Range, Good FT shooter.

Weaknesses: Turnover prone, Ball-handling could improve, Needs to get bigger and stronger.

He was named the Big West Conf. Player of The Year

Anthony Marshall signed to Heat summer league team and possibly Myck Kabongo, who some say would have been a pretty good player a team could have obtained within the final picks. Would be nice to see these guys shine for the Heat and see what they can provide to our team.
