The whole "front 7" comparision is wrong. This discussion needs to be divided into secondary, linebackers, and defensive line.
Seahawks have the better secondary, 9ers have the better linebackers.
The defensive line would appear basically even, but I think that the Seahawks definately have superior depth. I am also skeptical about the 9ers losing Sop and bringing in Dorsey. Dorsey is most often described as disappointing and a bust, but we will see if a change of scenery does anything for him.
Well, it's pretty hard to compare just DL's and LB's when they run different schemes. We have one of, if not the best DL in the NFL. Truthfully, it's hard to compare units at all when it's 11 guys on the field every snap, working in unison. You seen what a lack of pass rush did to our secondary at the end of the year. Both teams obviously have great defenses that are thought to be the best, or the 2nd best.
And didn't Soap play like a 1/3 of our snaps? I would be VERY surprised if he lives up to the contract he got in Philly. I think Dorsey was being brought in as more of a depth guy than anything. I like the signing and I'm hopeful he lives up to his high draft status a couple years ago. Guy was a beast in college but it hasn't really translated.
