Leyland left him in there a little to long.
Actually it is looking like Leyland's use of the bullpen last nite woke up the Angels.![]()
From what I remember, you guys have a glut of starters though, right? Waive him or option him. Or better yet, hope he comes back strong in his next start and try to move him again. Hell, he can always come be the #2 guy for the Padres.![]()

How long before Smiley takes his place. The few times I have seen Smiley pitch this year he has looked decent.

He was mighty unlucky today. There were only a couple of balls really hit hard. The AB that changed the game was Brandon Harris's bloop hit on the 9th pitch of the AB. It brought in the 5th run of the inning and help allowed the inning to continue for Trout's GS.
True, but 9 runs is nine runs.
Part of that "pitching to contact" thing I described previously.
