I am excited to see what Homer does with the D, because I can just about guarantee that he makes some sort of splash.

By the deadline he'll pick up a decent vet to bolster the D. No doubt about it after taking a run at weber and suter.

Randy Miller‏@RandyJMiller

If #Flyers use buyouts after 2012-13, they could go hard for #Ducks RW/2011 Hart winner Corey Perry, an UFA after '12-13 season.

Randy Miller‏@RandyJMiller

Besides #Ducks Corey Perry, another winger #Flyers could go after following 2012-13 is #Flames Jarome Iginla, also an UFA after '12-13.

Now I dont like Randy Miller at all, but I know Homer is already thinking about it. If Homer is thinking a buyout could be used to bring in Perry, I guarantee we'd go Briere. Move Schenn to the 2nd line Center, Voracek to 2nd line wing, and Perry to 1st line RW

This was my point form earlier to sign a big name guy we'd almost certainly have to move Briere to make room under the cap. Also Howard and Edler will be ufa's and there are a shit ton of good rfa's after this season too.

Dear God. Just putting this here. You all know how I love PK. I just wont even start on it. Simply passing this along.

Homer has to be licking his chops right now with the buyout. And I feel like if we have a good chance at Perry, then Briere's days are numbered

My only concern with signing Perry is the cap hit that will come with him. I have to wonder if we wouldn't be better to go the safe route and re-sign Read, then sign Clowe and Edler if we were to buy out Briere. It might be a better use of the $ in the long run.

Do you think he goes right for it? Or does he wait for 15-20 games to see how the current guys play in front of Bryz?

Going the safe route should be much better, especially since Read is going to cost us when his deal expires. But I doubt Homer goes that way. He was shelling out $15million to Parise and Suter combined, so I think if Perry is available, Homer will want the big ticket item.

I was thinking waiting, and then make a move early April at the deadline.

I fully believe this but I think it's the wrong play, guys get hurt and go through slumps so in today's NHL I believe that you need a full team contributing to win a cup look at the last 2 cup champs.

Well I think we are a top pair defenseman away from being a totally complete team, and none will be available through FA. Perry obviously does not hurt, I am just really worried about the cap hell signing him could bring us to.

You'd have to dump DB for Perry no doubt about it. As per Bryz its wait and see he'll have this season to straighten shit out. IMO they will definitely need to find another solid Dman as odds are there will be injuries. Hopefully Luke surprises everyone and becomes the man he can be.

Pretty sure the buyouts don't come on to play until this summer, as in, not allowed to before then. I read the cap for this year is 70.2 mil. Next year, 64.3. Then it's gunna get fun. Wouldn't be shocked at all if the sharks buyout some combination of Thornton, havlat, and Marleau. Just as an example of what might e available this summer. Heatley's got a monster contract in minny too. Could be a lot of options.

I'll admit this completely skipped my mind. There could be tons of talent available for relatively cheap. I wonder if there is a deadline of when players have to be bought out by(i.e. before FA starts).

Have you heard of any changes to the trade deadline for this season? Is it going to be moved at all?

I could have sworn I saw early April for the deadline, but I am not positive

I just noticed Cody Franson is an rfa as well. He's a bigger guy, skates well and is a right handed shot which would be nice on the PP. I wonder what it woudl take to get him from TOR if he's available.

Franson signed a full contract in Europe, not just a lockout deal. He is there for the season.
